Those who say its natural please remember there are many deadly poisons that are natural. I prefer natural & herbals too but only as guided by my physicians who are monitoring my whole health picture and are accountable for the treatment plan they prescribe for me.
Butt seriously. I've seen permanent kidney failure in a well-renowned Holistic doctor from Chinese herbs and from long time Excedrin usage for migraines. I've also recently seen someone who needed emergency bowl resection recently due to an ulcer brought on by excessive ibuprofen usage. Things in the gazillions (percentages or milligrams) are unnecessary and can sometimes be harmful.

FDA is in the business of money not concern and they will manipulate the system anyway they can....legallize MONSANTO and you have the hidden elixir... to health and money....give em a disease and the Dr wil fix it and fix it and fix it and fix it......I am not holding it against the DR
I do believe they have only the best interest in people...they are just too busy to determine the lies from the truth of politics...keep em distracted ... all of us
But back to herbs. Look at this!! More states coming to legalize herb soon. Come to the West Coast and get baked!! On the beaches and in your head.

minerals, calcium and fish oils are the most commonly used supplements. ???? not for HVC
I know alot of people take fish oil, but i wouldn't even eat the fish now days let alone the oil....look at the waters and polutions...not for me....I miss Lake Erie perch, Waleye, and pickeral...but there is a sign now I hear in my home town, Sandusky, Ohio, home of Cedar Point.... that says ..eat fish at your own risk...lol- paraphrased...I think it says if you are pregnant don't eat the fish....welll if it isn't good enough for a new born , me either
The authors want to inform the public of potential dangers of using dietary supplements and advise that supplement producers, government agencies, healthcare providers and consumers work together $$$$$$ to improve safety....
alot of herbs work and are taking from the pharma $$
.I tried and could not accsss the full article (first one - about herbals & supplements) and the synopsis of it did not state WHICH herbals are dangerous. I mean it mentions calcium which i take...
I only did one day and then I remembered, but I am on SOV/Riba - anyone else told that?
I still like good old fashioned eat the proper diet vitamins.....I know it sounds goofy, but multi-vitamins make me hungrier than usual - can't answer why, but each time I try one, same thing happens.
I have tried different supplements in past before tx and got sick from some, so just plain stopped.......We all have to live with the consequences of what we do.....plain and simple.

From a educated standpoint, the risks are too high.
Pissing my liver off, used to mean bleeding to death. I believe in "whole plant medicine". However, the pharmacological make up of plants goes way beyond what suppliers tell you, when they are selling the benefits.
"Organically grown" means what...in Malaysia? Sri Lanka? Etc.
Forget environmental toxins.
Why are conventional Doctors ok with milk thistle?
Because they know it is a harmless food product, used for millennia.
Absorption of silymarin compounds still confounds the brightest.
Our blood is the only reagent that unlocks bioavailability.
Thus you must inject it IV. to get the real hepatoprotective response.
Sorry for the pet peeve.
I burned my books and stopped self medicating with herbals when I realized I could not account for "every" synergistic property that may be harmful.
I doubt many herbal producers or suppliers pay in-house for Chemical Engineers. Let alone Hepatologists with nutrition degrees.
This would of course defeat the purpose of exploiting a non regulated industry.
Pharmaceutical plants and their complex chemicals are not for people with impaired liver function....and I hate regulation for herbs.
They can have all sorts of raw ingredients from China and India.
Who knows what they cut their stuff with?
Many times I bought stuff that I had no idea what it was really made out of or cut with. But i did it to get high, not to get healthy.
