Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Although fibrosis is normally stage 0-4 I assume that yours is cirrohsis. JMO but not stage of cirrhosis is good but may have caught it early on. Time to change your life. No drinking not even for special occasions. You need to eat a healthy diet. Get away from all that Mississippi fried food. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies.
Exercise is important also. Cut out all the excess sugars and salts and high fructose corn syrups.
I know that sounds harsh but it's not. I did all of the above and them some and found that I can can eat heathy and enjoy what I eat.
Also if you are a smoker, I recommend quitting. No need taxing your body. We are talking about things that may save your life.
JMO
I don't know if fibrosis or cirrhosis......
Listen to Clay about the drinking and smoking as it DOES make a difference.
I was told NOT to worry about stage 2?
We all are told different things, however I have this picture chart they gave me and 1 and 2 don't look that bad.....
I personally CANNOT tolerate any kind of smoke anymore!! I used to be a diehard smoker and now I can't go near it, I get sick to my stomach.
Also, long ago I tried a drink and paid for it later.....Would not suggest you try that either.
Ask away as I know I didn't know a thing about what was going on and that is why I had that drink.....
Now I see a Hepatologist...
Grade of Fibrosis goes from 1 to 4, 1 is little 4 is cirrhosis.
Now in the land of cirrhosis we talk about Stage
Stage 1 to 4
Stage 1 is early cirrhosis Stage 4 is usually ESLD (end stage liver disease).
Stage 1 is usually compensating cirrhosis meaning your liver can still carry out all of it's functions ..that's very good news!
Get rid of the virus
Do not drink
Eat healthy food
Live a long life as if you take care your liver will not fail.
read this instead:

Grade 2: mild periportal inflammation and piecemeal necrosis or focal hepatocellular necrosis
Grade 3: moderate periportal inflammation and piecemeal necrosis or severe focal cell damage
Grade 4: severe periportal inflammation and piecemeal necrosis or bridging necrosis
Stage: degree of fibrosis
Stage 0: no fibrosis
Stage 1: enlarged fibrotic portal tracts
Stage 2: periportal fibrosis or portal to portal septa, without architectural distortion

Wow I've really failed at trying to help . apologies.
stage 1 indicates enlargement of the portal areas by fibrosis;
stage 2 indicates fibrosis extending out from the portal areas with rare bridges between portal areas;
stage 3 indicates many bridges of fibrosis that link up portal and central areas of the liver; and
stage 4 indicates cirrhosis.
but i also want to say not to worry about asking too many questions here. That's what we're here for....even if we can't answer him! HA!
The site is great for support and sharing links where you can go find answers for yourself.
Taking on presumptions of know more that Dr.s is a dangerous practice. I for one am glad we have them! Let's leave the support to the supporters and the medicine to the Dr.s :)
