Yes that that last line seems rather optimistic but I suppose it's possible. Depends how aggressive the virus is amongst other health factors I suppose.
Yes, being able to increase the transplant time window is amazing!

That's one of the main reasons why I'm so frustrated because, I already have 15 years post transplant and I know that I'm already running out of time... This is why I'm working with my Doctor to either get me in a trial via expanded or compassionate use access, or for my Doctor to monitor and treat me alone with one of the IND's being used in quite a few trials that I'm not eligible to participate due to underlying health conditions which make me too risky a candidate for any clinical trial...

I have tried to get into a few trials only to be rejected based on the fact that I also have COPD, Diabetes and congestive heart failure.
I don't have cirrhosis as of yet but I know that I'm on borrowed time and also know that it's running out FAST!

So Yes I'm frustrated but not without hope!

Anywho, that's my new angle in getting treated with the newer DAA's and that's why I'm also starting a fundraising campaign to raise enough money to pay for the cost of these drugs if any so tht I can finally, finally be cured of HCV!

It hasn't even been 3 years since my transplant, and my last MRI is suggestive of Cirrhosis - 'surface of liver is nodular suggesting Cirrhosis'. My biopsy last May said Phase 2 fibrosis, so I don't know what stage I am. I'm wanting to have another biopsy when they do my annual tests.

Ask them to do an MRI. Do they have a Nuclear Medicine department? Some of that diagnostic equipment is very high tech and the clarity of the images is incredible to say the least!

This is only my opinion Marilyn but, I think your transplanted liver was also infected with HCV... However, there's no proof to that unless you follow the entire organ procurement paper trail IMHO.

Henry, I will be having an MRI as part of my annual testing, also a CT scan of the lungs, bone scan, lots of labs. My new liver was a perfectly good liver that did not have Hep C. I've been assured of that by all 3 transplant doctors at Methodist H in Houston. I read several articles online last night that said Cirrhosis returns within 5 years in 30% of transplant patients. So I suppose it's a matter of what you read. Many people see Hep C return very soon after transplant.

Lucky for y'all that can partake in a toke now and then. I'm take regular drug tests at work so I can't risk the loss of job and insurance
