Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Good news is, once chronic inflammation (hepatitis) stops, the liver absolutely regenerates new cells, increasing blood flow and function
while decreasing the back pressure (portal hypertension) that causes ascites and bleeding varices.
Though cirrhosis IS end stage liver disease, I agree that diet and life/health changes also decreases the wear and tear on your liver,
while you are regenerating.
Cirrhosis is no longer a death sentence, once the source of damage has been removed. Sweet, sweet facts.
