i had a scan or a clicking thing pushed against my right bottom side of torso but i can't remember the damn name, But the doctor said it was perfect??? i don't know if he means my liver has healed or hep has gone which i doubt. I am stupid i always listen then forget!

Was it a sonogram or mri? I had both last spring and they said it didn't show any damage to my liver. But when they did the biopsy it showed a different ballgame altogether. I don't think they can tell if the Hep Viral load is zero. The only way is through bloodwork. I would ask your dr. more specific questions and write down what he tells you.

Sounds like you had an ultrasound of your liver. My ultrasound looked good, but my biopsy showed scarring. Have you had a biopsy? Ultrasounds are wonderful, but I believe the best indicator would be an biopsy. Nevertheless, the fact that your ultrasound was perfect is awesome news!

sounds like an ultrasound. very good for keeping an eye out for tumors but not very good for assessing fibrosis.
it is only one tool in the box and cannot give a very good picture of your liver health all on it's own

What Mo and Gagem said, a liver biopsy will tell if there is damage or not.

goodmorning,i had an ultrasound at my first tx.i was in prison,2004.it was only reg.interferon,3shots a week,1200mg.rib.was stopped at 6 mo,s non resp.this time.i had a biopsy,i don,t know the exact results.all i know is my dr. said i was a canidate for tx.so fri. will be #47.so i agree w/ everybody else it was prob. ultra sound.did they spread a gell across the place they moved the instrument.if so ultra.biopsy is better.god bless hav good day.

You definately had an ultrasound and as Mo said: It's very good for keeping an eye out for tumors but not very good for assessing fibrosis. I just had one myself and I asked the technician if she could tell me anything about the fibrosis in my liver and she said no. She was checking to see if the growth (hemangioma) on my liver had gotten any bigger in the past year or if there were any new growths. The biopsy tells you the real story.

yes, sounds like an ultrasound? i had one too last year and they said the same thing..."looks great!" but i've never had a biopsy...apparently the biopsy is the thing to get? BUT, i guess the ultrasound will show if you have a tumor ?
