Debbie, I just want to say how sorry I am that tx did not work for you. I'm still not treating - the fear of Interferon is SO HUGE - yet here I am a Stage 3/4. But for you, my God, to go through that for 30 weeks then have to stop. So F-cky, as our own Ooreebeo (ha - I will never spell it right), says about this scourge of HCV.

I'd sure as hell not want to look at that stuff in your fridge either. I hate HCV.

I would ask my dr if I could take the meds that I have, never know what might happen.

even if you were to restart treatment the meds will no doubt be out of date.... do not flush them... follow the instructions in the link above for how to dispose of unused meds

The way I feel about the meds right now I'd say incinerate them and never look back. I am really hating Interferon right now. I am so sorry again Debbie I truly am. 24th week starting now so I know how very much it sucks and what an awful experience it is. I will also never want to see them again when I'm done. You're right, it takes up way too much space in your fridge.

So sorry to hear you were stopped Debbie, but I know exactly how you feel. I was stopped 4 weeks early and had a whole months worth of meds delivered a day or two before as well. I asked my doc what to do with them and he said that he definately wanted them for other patients who lose their insurance during treatment. So... I hid the damn stuff in my fridge until I went in to see him again. The exp date was well within that time. He almost was salvitating over being given the Interferon, but the riba, not so much. Guess he had plenty of that. I didn't have any Incevik to give because I'd already finished that, but the Vic that you have is worth it's weight in gold.
So, I guess my suggestion is, hide it and take with you when you next see him . He'll appreciate it as it will be given to a patient who really needs it.

I know when my mom passed away last March she had an arsenol of meds I wanted to contribute somewhere. The local hopspital near her had a program for taking and redistributing the medications.

Sorry to hear about your treatment................I was wondering, even if you appt isn't until Jan......couldn't you just drop off the meds before then??? Certainly you shouldn't need an appt for that????????

On my meds expiration is 2 years from now.Maybe your doc will take them.

So sorry you had to stop...I was so pissed when I stopped I grabbed them through them in a bag and took them to the doc,he wasnt there so i told the receptionast here is what i have left.

Turned around and that was the end of that,I just could not look at them another day at that point.

I returned my unopened Interferon shots and remaining Riba to my Dr. He appreciated that for times when his other patients couldn't get their meds on time. Kind of like take a penny leave a penny..lol

So sorry Deb. I too had extra stuff left over. My Dr happily took it all. She said she could give it to someone who didnt have ins. My first Procret shot she gave me , until my ins. Gave approval. I hope someone in need is using my meds

In the beginning, when I realized that my treatment would go into the new year and cost me my insurance deductible, I asked my doc if she can get my meds for jan 1 - 23 in Dec/12.
She informed me that lots of time people have leftover meds and turn them in to her, and if she has some she can help me out.
As it looks right now, I will def have some Ribavirin left over.
I never thought about that factor! It's due to changes in my dosage to regulate my hemoglobin count.
I'm sure she will take my leftover meds too!
I would be proud to help someone who doesn't have insurance or other means to obtain their meds.
Thank God for insurance. Let's help those less fortunate...don't destroy leftover meds!
