Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
One tries to count how much virus there is in your blood. it can only count as low as 15
The other test is to detect any virus RNA and comes back either detectable or not detected.
Less than 15 is a very good sign and no doubt you will probably come back undetectable when that test is done.
Hepatitis C Quantitation HCV Not Detected
Test Information: 01 The quantitative range of the assay is 15 IU/mL to 100 million IU/mL using COBAS(R) TaqMan(R) HCV test, v 2.0. The limit of detection (LOD) and lower limit of quantification (LLOQ) for this assay is 15 IU/mL.
Results less than the quantitative range of the assay will be reported as "HCV RNA detected, less than 15 IU/mL".
What does this mean...I understand the HCV means= NOT DETECTED ...but seems to counterdict itself in the last paragraph with HCV RNA detected is less than 15?? thought was UNDI was less than 15...
I was always "less than 12".....during treatment until week 17.
HCV QUANT IU/ML NDT IU/ML NONE DETECTED
HCV QUANT, LOG IU NDT LOG IU/ML NONE DETECTED
A NEGATIVE RESULT DOES NOT RULE OUT A VIRAL LOAD BELOW THE DETECTION LIMIT OF
THE ASSAY.
HCV VIRAL ANLAYSIS PERFORMED USING ABBOTT FDA APPROVED REAL TIME PCR (METHOD
SENSITIVITY 12-100,000,000 IU/ML, 1.08-8.00 LOG IU/ML
"undetected", but finally I was able to get this result.....
These new drugs are doing a great job!!
We are BOTH UNDETECTED! Trust me.
