Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
My hep doc called me today and the EAP is willing to go over my appeal and will most likely cover my treatment. I guess contacting my MP and MPP has helped .
Sovaldi /riba is now approved for funding in Ontario for geno 3 with stage 3/4 cirhosis and the doc already sent in my application to beat the rush ..I should be able to get it early due to the appeal It will be sovaldi/riba for 24 weeks ,not the best but as long as it clears ,Ill take iot
Just as well I had a gastric bleed yesterday ,wasn't feeling so good ..but this cheers me up ..
more intravenous Iron tomorrow ..blah!!
Who else here has done Sovaldi/Riba for 24 weeks would like to get some idea how it was??

I'm not going to share my experience with the tx. Its in my journals. It was my 2nd tx.
Just assume its going to be better than hcv.
I did achieve "undetected" and my last viral load test was done at
5 months after ending treatment and I am still "UNDETECTED".
My hepatologist told me I could really consider myself "cleared", but
I want to see that 6 month EOT Viral Load test in one month.
Actually judging by the way I feel, I am sure it is gone....
Now 24 weeks is long, DON'T GIVE UP - I almost did at 16 weeks and my Doc asked me to take one more viral load test before I gave up and it came back "undetected"...
I give that gift to me from the Lord as I was at my end.... That gave me the push to finish and I did it!!
My Riba had to be reduced to 600mg at 3 weeks as my body and myself could not handle the side effects.

This treatment is NOTHING like the interfeuron....It can be done.
I had no side effects from the Sovaldi, except for the insomnia.
The Riba sucks, but you need it with the Sovaldi to work.
Lovefall thanks for sharing I will do my best to keep going ,and drinking water will be my goal .I remember that from soc ... Im just waiting on approval now .
