Tx is treatment. I was about 8 weeks in when I began to get mouth sores and inflamed taste buds. Someone suggested getting 'Magic Mouthwash' from the doc but I made my own, non-prescription version. A tbsp of liquid Benadryl and a tbsp of maalox mixed together. Rinse for 30 seconds then spit it out. Seems to be reducing the nastiness a little. The appetite went at about 3 weeks. Then I seemed to acquire a new side effect every week but so far they are manageable. Good luck to you.

Eating should be just like taking your meds. You make yourself eat, because your body really needs the nourishment at this time. You need to keep your body strong, because you are using up some much energy, killing a virus.

Has anyone talked about the use of cannabis to help with appetite and taste bud issues?

Welcome. I just started treatment 2 days ago and I haven't had any side effects yet. My appetite seems to have increased, but it may be my imagination.

I've beeb on Pegasys now for 12wks...I only had a really bad side effect from my first injection other then that the only real side effect that i've physically had to deal with is severe fatique. My bllod work at 6wks was showing low Platlete counts, by the 9th week the counts were back up in normal range, my 10th week my White Blood celles were extremely low and my injection dose was lowered to 135ml instead of the 180ml, 11th week my doctor called me to let me know that everything is looking absoutely graet and all counts are normal! I found it really weird that other then being tired I had no physical indication that and blood counts were low. natuarally when I found out I was heart broke in thinking that my liver was rejecting the treatment....I kept a positive attitude and a close eye on those I love to keep me going and it deffintitely proved to work for me!!! Best advise is stay focused and strong minded, try not to focus on other peolpes reactions to the treatment...we are all individuals and will experience this differently....Keep smiling and stay strong :)

I had minimal side effects on tx as long as slept well (took sleeping pills and anti anxiety/depression), took my supplements, drank water, didn't eat sugar, a lot of carbs or fat.

i think i lived on milk shakes for months while in treatment and i still lost weight.

Chisup, what treatment are you on. ? No side effects great.

Welcome to the site and good luck on your journey. Whatever you are craving then go for it because it will change as you go further into tx. Ensure is a great way to get nutrients if the taste and appetite totally go.

peginterferon alpha-2a w/ribo for 24 weeks

don't sleep throughout the night, quite restless but i'm not taking naps, staying active either mentally or physically all day, drinking 1+gallons/day and eating as best as I know how.

Welcome Chinsup. I'm on the same tx as you. Been working all the way through. Some good days...some bad..but doable. No loss of appetite yet (4mo. 1 week). Ambien on the bad nights and Xanax on the bad days.
I'm not against weed but you might want to check with you Dr. as mine said if she finds weed in the system then she will consider dropping me from tx AND, ,,,BIG AND.. No chance at the transplant list. Some Dr. are okay with it but mine obviously aint....Good luck and keep posted

I'm not sure where or how you're getting treatment but if my doctor told me that I'd fire 'em on the spot. I pay for my insurance, therefor I'm paying for the doctor, they work for me, not the other way around. If they can show me where vaporizing has any negative effect on my treatment I'd consider it but they can't so I'm not. ;)

Wow! I'm really shocked a doctor from cali would tell their patient that. Would love to know the medical reason behind it???
