24 weeks of tx means you are either a type 2 or 3 genotype. Try not to be scared and worry yourself to death. Take your time to learn what this is all about. Some days I read for hours, today I am just checking in to cool off after pulling weeds in the garden.

I was dx last March and will begin tx mid October. My husband and I both have 2B and are grateful for the time we've had to prepare. Sometimes the mental and emotional readiness is just as important as the physical part. As far as the physical part goes, there is much testing that happens to know precisely the condition of your liver.

...and your viral counts? That is a number they watch when tx begins to monitor your progress. Right now, the numbers sound HUGE....but they are just numbers. This is a s-l-o-w moving virus, just quietly sneaky.

I jump in with both feet and said let's do this. I had no depression and felt good except on tuesday's. I didn't try and work at that time. My husband refused to help me with my shots to rotate in my arms so my legs and tummy got it all, I saved my life by taking the TX, I knew it would be hard but living was more important, viral load 1,200,000, geno2a stage 3 fiborsis. You can do this, I made the decision in one day, I took the 3 shots a week and 1000 mg. of ribs, You will do great.

Once I had all of my test results, and knew I was a good candidate for tx I didn't waste any time getting started. The sooner you start the better. Remember that the virus is damaging your liver so to delay is not wise. The longer you wait the more damage done. Type 2 or 3 genotype are the most responsive to treatment.

Hello and best wishes with your treatment. I personally made the decision when a woman I met was in end stage liver failure and asked me what I was waiting for as far as treatment goes. It was a kick in the ass that I needed because my viral count was at 6 million and I already had scarring on my liver but felt fine. They say it is a silent disease and I was blessed so far. I only waited awhile because my ALT levels were in the normal range...once they shot up to 520 my doc adviced me to start the treatment. I am a geno type 3a so I had a good chance of beating this virus....and I did..yahooo!!! If your doc isn't persistent on you starting right away then maybe you should wait until there is a better treatment with less side effects. How do you feel though?
