Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

One of the videos states that the all oral drugs are expected to be available July 2014.
Take two minutes and listen to the video. It might just give you a little boost of hope!

Thanks Kramer. I am sticking with Plan A to finish my current treatment, but it's always good to know there's a backup plan.

Best of luck to you guys already on your road to health. You'll be all done before July 2014. This is of great interest to those of us that PegInf won't work Non/Null responders. There are a lot of us that have been waiting a long time!

Well...I know that comment was made in the video dealing with Genotype 1...but the comment itself sounded much more general - "interferon-free regimens" becoming available around July 2014.
I really want to believe he means the combo (which would treat genotype 1), but I think it's just be a reference to the floodgates starting to open, with Sofosbuvir first...
Which is a good thing, of course.

Don't "think it out" too hard Slide. Fretting won't make it arrive any earlier. I just found reassurance hearing a date actually spoken. :^)

Ha, ha...I was about to write a lengthy post about the nitty-gritty of national distribution of drugs after approval...fleets of trucks and so forth...and the time involved in that. i guess that's thinking it out WAY too much. Especially since I know nothing about that.

Al always, thanks Kramer for your info. Wish the drugs were coming out sooner though :/ Fearing my disease is becoming suddenly aggressive as the enzyme levels are climbing fast even without drinking, or taking meds ! I've got a close watch on upcoming Gilead trials for sure. :)
