Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
There's more info now than back in 2009 about how HepC-Induced Cryoglobulinemia are linked, and yes indeed, this condition does make your hands and feet hurt worse than other joints in the body. I tried to find the links I read a few weeks back on this, but sure you can read up on it by searching Cryoglobulinemia AND Hep C, etc.
I began taking Turmeric (Curcumin 35%) with Boswellia I get thru Swanson's Vitamins online about 2 months ago, and it is really helping reduce my pain levels quite a bit now that it's built up after regular use (about $14 per month). Or look up Turmeric Life dot com, I think is another site, but it's for making a paste of it to use in cooking (I don't cook much anymore, so not for me - I prefer a supplement).
Sorry to hear about your pain. I do relate, as I've had my left base-thumb joint replaced back in 2010, and need the right one done; also had my left big toe joint repaired & arthritis bone spur atop the joint removed in 2009. It's acting up again, and probably need a fusion at this point, as so much arthritis is in there.
Anyway, read up on Cryoglobulins and Hep C everyone ... get checked out - Request from your Primary Docs to get a referral to the best RheumDoc in your area (I asked my HepC/GI Doc's office for a recommendation, and the DOC actually called me himself on Sunday to tell me the name & clarified for me this doc is up to date on the newer info around this very issue...). So am at the beginning stages of getting my levels checked again, cuz I don't know if it goes away after treatment or not.
I will look into both these things .I already have tumeric as a supplement that the Doc said was OK even on the TX
I have 12 weeks to go
Just praying it doesnt get much worse
I.m going to look up both now
all the best

I could barely move anything in my body. (those memories make me shudder).
I am still going thru feet/hand and joint problems, although they are getting better since I killed the Hep C. That helps but I think I need more help yet.
While you are on treatment, so many things flare up that it is hard to figure out what is from the treatment and what is not. I even had UTI's that kept coming back and then not showing any bacteria, so the Doc said it has to be the treatment I was on. She was right.
It all stopped once I cleared those meds.
My left foot today is bothering me and my wrists and ankles. I have a left shoulder that has been killing me for 2 days now. I watch my older hubby (5 years older - age 66) doing everything and I am pitiful.
I am still going out and enjoy this beautiful day as we don't get many like this anymore as our cooler weather is headed our way.
Sorry, I am complaining about myself.
This DHEA - I looked it up and it is a male hormone (would that be for women too?) Just curious.
I do plan on looking up that Cryoglobulin and see what that is all about. So many things destroying our bodies and the cure was there, just not discovered yet. I am GRATEFUL that I have made it.
This virus has been with me for over 25 years and I can't believe I am still alive.
I do believe we all have a purpose in life to be fulfilled.
God Bless and good luck in finishing your treatment. You are doing great....It is a long haul, I know - I did the same tx.
Dr thought I might be developing fibromyalgia. I decided to get off most of my meds (anti-depressants and sleeping pill) but am still on a very strong anti-inflammatory (celebrex) and weaning off valium.
I also take glucosamine, omega 3, curcumin, calcium and a few other things hoping to beat the pain this way but so far it is not working.
My next experiment is to get of wheat as I hear that can cause a lot of problems. I have been on disability for over 2 years and I hate it. I want to get better and get back to work !!
Over the years I have just brushed everything else off as because of the hep c ..
But I now have some things that were totally unrelated that I let get bad because I blamed the hep c when they should have been treated for that specific thing ages ago ..
I didnt want to just brush it off if it is something like RA or anything else that can be prevented or treated lol
I have decided to get my Family Doc to check it out so that anything else can be ruled out.
Thank you all for your help..
