Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I don't want to jeopardize my treatment so I follow his instructions to a tee. But there are a lot of things they don't know. When I asked my doc about my intestinal distress he just looked at me kind of weird, like he didn't know because it is not part of hep C.
I believe that lots of water and soluble fibre are very beneficial. Since the liver is part of the digestive system, it stands to reason that alot of us would have battles to fight in this area.
Eliminate junk food, fast food, red meat, white flour, sugars, processed foods and dairy from your diet because they are toxic to the liver. The closest to natural is the best thing you can do for yourself. And lots and lots of water and the good fibre.
Good luck.

It must have been a brain fart lol
Dairy is bad because the liver cannot digest the protein from animal fat, which is found in dairy and red meat.
I get thrush whenever I eat dairy products since I started tx 4 weeks ago. I have to avoid it and it can cause irritable bowel syndrome and make yeast infection grow if you have any in your body.
I would avoid using any dairy while on tx just to eliminate some of the nasty sides. Drink lots and lots of water and eat lots of soluble fibre.
Good luck brave soldier.

I would avoid all dairy while on tx. It might elimate some of the sides. Drink lots and lots of water and eat lots of soluble fibre.
Dairy foods are an excellent source of nutrients essential for health and it is hard to get enough calcium if you
exclude milk products from your diet. Some dairy foods contain high levels of saturated fat so if you want to
reduce your intake of saturated fat (fat from animals), try choosing reduced-fat dairy products or calciumenriched
soy milk products.
This is what I was told about dairy products. I use soy milk, 1% or skim milk. Hope this helps, kotlbland
