No, it is not too late. Please speak with your doc & do what you can to get tx with these new tx meds. Harvoni is clearing even the toughest to tx cases for geno 1s. For your stage you would need to take Harvoni for 24 wks. The sooner the better. Good luck.

It takes a long time for the liver to regenerate but stopping the constant assault will have a huge impact on your health & you'll notice it quicly. Some of the damage will be irreversible but the healthy portion will heal & function properly again. My doc said I could get by with as little as 7% of my liver function. Fortunately for me I don't have cirrhosis or late stage liver disease. I've failed 57 wks of the old txs & I am now on wk 10 of 12 of Harvoni. It is like night & day. Simply no comparison. So easy! As a 2x non-responder I was stunned when I was undetected after 18 days on Harvoni. I feel amazing. Support Path at Gilead is quite helpful in assisting patients navigating possible ins. hurdles. & communicating with your doc. Many patients with cirrhosis & prior liver transplant patients have treated with Solvadi & Olysio with great benefit & sustained virological response as well.

hi ptriss thanks for remembering me I remember you, and thank you allabout for you replies and info, maybe now I can quit being depressed and waiting to die, that got old, I couldn't do the old tx and I doubt it would have helped me anyway, I now have hope thank God

I'm trying to get Harvoni too.

I also have stage 2 varices and stage 4 cirrhosis. I am on Harvoni and doing great so far. I still have a lot of life left in me.

anyway, so good to hear you you are the bomb...what a gal you are..you have helped me to this point and now i only have 3 more weeks to go on TX ...waiting for lab report....do what you got to do .NOW..this is time to LIVE getting too old to fight...I pray for ALL of us...

Studies have shown that even when two-thirds of the liver has been removed, it will still function and regenerate to its original size.

Get on the medication ASAP!

The liver is remarkable at regenerating itself.....It has been proven over and over again.
