I have been hearing 2015 for all types, but at the outside 2016. I think all orals by 2014 for the Geno-types 2 and 3.

Thanks very much for the hopeful post! I think about this all the time now.
Does anyone think Sofosbuvir plus Riba alone will be used off-label for Genotype 1 people? I see that in some trials there was a fairly decent success rate with that...but then I hear a lot of people saying geno1 will definitely have to wait for the combos. I keep hoping though, because if the two alone are a possibility, that might be within the year.

I am genotype 1, undie by three weeks. But I had the 5885 along with the Sofosbuvir/riba. YES! It is soon. I was at 16 million, undie week 3 and by some tests that are less sensitive, two weeks. The math looks good and lets hope the math continues to look good! 5885 the earliest from what I hear is 2015. Too bad they did not stick with BMS.

I'm so happy that your treatment worked. I'm sure you'll be feeling so much better very soon.
What I was saying in my last post though, is that, even without 5885, Gilead has seen some genotype 1 success in trials with just sofosbuvir and riba...WITHOUT the 5885. I know 5885 gives better odds, and that combo will be the bomb etc, but it seems to me that when sofosbuvir comes out, geno 1 patients could try it with riba and see what happens. If it fails, it won't hurt, because there's very little virus resistance to sofosbuvir.
I don't understand why I'm not reading more about this being an option. Of course, I only have two months and 4 days worth of scrambled knowledge about this stuff, ha, ha...but does anyone see what I'm saying?

GS -7977 ( Gilead Sofosbvir) - 2013
GS -5885 ( Abbott) - 2014

@Kramer, I could not get the site to pull up, but I have terrible lag time on my computer. Were you saying the 5885 is Abbott? The 5885 is from Gilead and replaced the one Gilead used with the BMS one. Abbott and Gilead are battling one another so to speak.

@ Slidequitar, they might do an off-label for the end stage, the problem is they are already accepting cirrhotics now into the studies. I would like to think they would though. But we have also seen them pull the rug out from under us with 100% cure last year and people are still dying.

Another plug for socialized medicine. (am I going to be kicked off the board now?)
