Yes I see Phase III for HIV/HCV co infection and for geno 2 and 3. Possibly there is Phase III for geno 1 infection only. Google it and report back will ya?

So, um, these are trials that are going on now or have concluded? Reason I'm asking is I'm looking for a trial to get into - but this doesn't have any contact info., exclusions, etc. (I feel rather stupid, but I honestly don't know what I'm looking at.)

if you want to get into a trial, you must contact them directly or through a doctor. they get back to you when they feel like it, or when it suits them. you must have the medical history they require to get it started. it can be a lot of work. i have spoken to many people who have done trials some with happy results and some with very unhappy results. we need do intense research on any trial we consider, many pitfalls from what i can see. i am holding out. very hard to get information from trial coordinators. my experience has been very frustrating with my gastroenterologist and many others. including the folk here. i want the best, and will not settle.

I just couldn't figure out exactly what I was looking at in that link. I SO agree with you about being very careful about these trials. We are their guinea pigs, their lab rats. We who are late stage and either failed tx or cannot even do it for various reasons (myself) can get desperate. So I thank you for that reminder. I would only go into one that my gastro. approved.

I did call one place - and jeez, it was scary - the person was basically clueless. Lots of drug companies want a piece of this huge HCV tx pie. I hear ya.

Your so right,hepcme,settling on the wrong trial,may then exclude you from the right trial,down the track.

we are all clueless, glad Les jumped on board he is the light at the end of the tunnel. it all starts with self preservation, an basic foundation of health by which a trial of choice hopefully will get a foot hold and succeed. The medical professionals really do not spend the necessary time to explain the pros and cons of trials. this to me is wrong headed. if i am going to offer the one most important asset i have, my body, i would need to serve in my best interest to gain all appropriate knowledge there is, to consider anything less is asinine.

Yes there is no such thing a s a free lunch. The trials demand some research but the pay-off can be early access to health and no financial cost.
It is up to everyone to be diligent in regards to research and making an informed decision to do one if the opportunity presents itself.
I only wish there were some available for me.

I feel, and i may be wrong. the trials and the medical community is not forthcoming in exact up to date information. yes they want people for trials and yes they want people to b hepc free, but they do not want the patient, to be too inquisitive. when i asking questions, i am brushed off. it feels like they have the attitude that they are selling me something so good and it is such a great deal, that i should just jump on it. this is not correct.

Maybe they don't have all the answers to the questions you are asking hence " a trial".
I believe they do tell you what drugs you may or may not be getting but don't think they can ethically "slip you a mickey".
Do the research on the drugs that they may be putting in your system. It's Phase II or later, not Phase I.
If none of this appeals to you then you are most welcome to sit in the waiting room with me. I don't have the "option" of a trial to date.

no trail has been offered to me either. if i was offered, it would need to be in the 90- 99% range for me to accept. doctors say dont do supplements or vitamins to prepare for trial. eat well, exercise, live healthy in the meantime is best we can do.

I guess it's all about "how much time" on has as these drugs will be done trial and established efficacy and safety.
I am just just keeping my fingers crossed I don't spiral into ESDL before then. It's going to be about 12 to 18 months for them to be available to all.
If a trial shows up here I will do a lot of research and make an informed decision to risk it or not.
Sometimes people do more research on buying a car than in dealing with their own health.. :^)

until then, i reiterate: be very careful what enters your body. exercise, geting the blood flowing and filtered is very important. even long walks are benefit
