My insurance has approved the Ribavirin treatment, but keeps denying Sovaldi. Sovaldi requires pre approval and the insurance has denied it. So my dr sent an appeal and that too was denied. I am waiting on the letter that they sent the dr office. Apparently there is more info. in their letters of denial then the ones Im sent. Basically, my nurse says that the letter states they do not feel I am sick enough. What the F? I mean seriously, either you are sick or you arent. So the nurse said that I have to personally appeal it next. My dr said that the virus is preventing me from leading a normal life because I am a 36 year old female who wants to have more children. However, I want to clear the virus prior to another pregnancy. So I get that cost is the real issue with insurance. However, the longer I have hcv, the sicker I can become with more medical costs. Also, I at risk of infecting other people. Im frustrated. Im lost. Im not sure what to do next. Does anyone have any information that can help? Also, I have optima insurance in case anyone knows any loopholes or anything. Thanks in advance!
