Wiccanolf...the order for the drug have to be filled out and requested by every four weeks.The doctor makes the decision of the length of time. If you are an early responder, 1-4 weeks undetected generally is 24 weeks total. If you are head prior treatment is 48 weeks automatic. The treatment generally pre approved by the insurance company, as you can not restart the treatment after you stopped.If you get the treatment denied in an ongoing treatment period you got to ask your doctor office whats going on FIRST , and have a good legal base for hiring a lawyer. As i said the insurance company will be liable for early termination with out cause, if you paying your payments on time.Demand answer from your doctor. He got to help you come to the right solution's and answers.

Why are you going 36 weeks? Do you know your genotype?

Generally for type 1 the treatment period is 24 weeks if the virus is undetected at week 4, or 48 weeks if it's undetected at week 12.

I was only going to do 36 weeks because I been virus free since my 4th week, so my Dr. said I would not have to go the full 48 weeks

My company denied me after 24 weeks because i was an early responder, type 1a on triple therapy with incivek... Stupidly, they denied the interferon and approved the riba.... My doc wanted me to go 48 weeks initially, but when they denied it he said the protocol for someone stage 3/4 was 24 weeks so he recommended i stop (and i did-- by then it was week 30). Hope you get this sorted out without interruption....it is infuriating to deal with the ins. companies--- my doc did it for me to the best of their ability....

I got to make a note on this. We always stated the treatment is over done , should be a lot shorter for people whom were early responders. I know several people whom stopped at 8 weeks, and as today all 3 of them still undetectable. The insurance companies finally catching up with the hoax, as i was never be able to understand why the need for the 12 extra weeks of Interferon.My scientific calculation was telling me the maximum 14 days i suppose to be completely virus free.

If you start say 3 million. They check 2 weeks later and you were under 25. That means in two weeks 1.999.975 virus died. You can brake it down by the day. 25 virus to die is a matter of hours. The Interferon is not killing the Virus rather stimulates the body's own defense system.So the Incivek did the work. It was a cahoot with the maker of Interferon, so the drugs went on fast track, piggybacked on the back of two already approved drugs. I firmly believe the extra 3 months was needless. It made an other 45.000 to the drug makers pocket. (Interferon+Riba) And as many of us knows 12 weeks of extra Interferon is creates a lot more damage.

You can call 3 Rivers Pharmaceutical and they will help you. They make the riba. But I THINK it has to be the ribapack. I got help during my whole 48 weeks, but that damn virus came right back 3 mos. after treatment. Good Luck!

r Doc has to get hold of your insurance rep and explain how important it is that you finish tx or fax or call or something that is what mine does and if he is not doing this it might be time to change Doc's That is my opion but nothing more I am not a doctor.
