I am in USA. Mine took 2 months, however I think the Doctor waited to send out a bunch of letters as I was the 1st patient to see him after the FDA approved Sovaldi for use in USA.

I think others have a quicker response time. I put it aside in my thoughts just thinking "it will happen".

The letter was recd; by ins company 2/28 and appproved 2/28.
That was one day on my letter, however I do not know how much
back and forth information was provided by the doctor regarding my liver status and other info.
I initially saw him in late December..

Took me over 2 months. They denied, then my doctor and the specialty pharmacy sent them appeals. Then they finally accepted the prescriptions.

So much depends on what treatment and your GT along with whether you have treated before.
I am GT 1 having never treated. My doctor prescribed Solvaldi, Inf, RIBA. I was approved in 4 days

My GT was 1b and never been treated before and I live in Mississippi!

It took 24 hours - but thats because the dr office hooked me up with patient assistance programs. My insurance ok'd solvaldi, but DENIED ribavarin LOL!

GT 3, never treated, Sov/Rib 24 week Tx took 2 days to be approved here in AZ.

Depends totally on your insurance, the tx being requested and on your doc's knowledge and ability to work the system. Also seems to depend on the state you are in.

It is your RX insurance that makes this decsion.

Most ins cos are rejecting initial claims for Sovaldi & Olysio and requiring an appeal. the appeal requires proof that you failed "traditional' tx previously, i.e interfreron and or ribavirin....

Since you have never treated, you MAY be required to prove you are a non-candidate for those drugs because of a pre-existing medical condition or mental diagnosis of anxiety and or depression.

If ins rejects you, (or if you have no ins) you cna apply to Gilead for assistance. Even if approved there is assistance with co-pays.

If all else fails, there are other txs coming soon - in the fall - which may not be as expensive and ins MAY be less of a hassle with them.

Now if I recall (recall currently RIBA/INF Inhibited) you said you don't know which drugs your doctor has prescribed for you.
Are you seeing a doctor in Batesville, Oxford, or Memphis?
If so who, cause I would think they would discuss this with you. After all, you do have rights and options as a patient.

My Doctor is in Oxford. He said I will be doing the triple therapy don't know what it is yet.

It took almost SIX months for me. Third appeal was the charm..

Im currently waiting for another response from insurance. They have denied it so far due to my dr not sending adequate information. The process shouldnt take long. It mostly depends on what they request and how good your dr is at getting them what they need. So far my dr hasnt done anything in a timely manner.
