Linda, I'm pretty sure that since it's time for your second dose, you will just go forward from here and make no changes. Call the incevik nurse hotline and ask if someone here that knows for sure doesn't chime in soon.

How should I take INCIVEK?

Take INCIVEK exactly as your healthcare provider tells you. Take 2 INCIVEK pills 3 times a day, 7 to 9 hours apart, with food. Eat a meal or snack containing about 20 grams of fat within 30 minutes before you take each dose. Talk to your healthcare provider about examples of food you can eat.

If you miss a dose within 4 hours of when you usually take it, take your dose with food as soon as possible. If you miss a dose and it is more than 4 hours after the time you usually take it, skip that dose only and take the next dose at your normal time. Do not stop taking INCIVEK unless your healthcare provider tells you to. If your healthcare provider tells you to stop, you should not start taking it again, even if the reason for stopping goes away. If you take too much INCIVEK, call your healthcare provider or local Poison Control Center, or go to the nearest emergency room right away.

This is what I found online for riba but it's not really clear to me.

If you remember the missed dose that same day, take the medication right away. However, if you do not remember the missed dose until the next day, call your doctor to find out what to do. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

I also found this which is a bit clearer:


Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. If you have not taken the medication for longer than 24 hours, call your doctor for instructions. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

Thanks Kary! I went to the docs today hoping that he would have my VL at week 12 back. It's not there yet, although he did shake my hand and said, "Congratulations on making it thru the incivek, you look pretty bad".....Oxymoron maybe? I'm just happy to have one less drug in me at this point. Hope you are doing ok?

LOL...gee you look pretty bad...nice. I heard that from a co-worker when I was on tx (not triple)...she said to me: You look like a hospital patient!

By the way, don't worry about the missed riba...you've been very compliant to this point and one missed pill will not make a difference.

ya need to get one of those old peoples pill boxes that hold am and pm meds for a week (or longer). most of us had to use them because as the weeks go by your brain gets fuzzier and fuzzier.

All I can offer is my personal experience: When on Tx I had gone to the ER and they admitted me to remove my gallbladder. As soon as I was admitted, I called the NP at my doc's office. She told me to stop all meds while I was in the hospital (about a week) and then to start back the Peg snd Riba when I was released.
I am tinking, if a week did no harm, that one missed dose of Riba is not a big deal. Still, you should call your doc whenever there is a question.

Q. is right asbout the pill boxes. I had to do that because it became difficlt to remember if I had taken my dose.

Yes - a weekly pill organizer from CVS or Walgreens sure makes it simplier.

Missing a dose of Ribavirin is inconsequential.

I ended up in ER and they told me to stop all TX. I went 2 days with no Riba at all......Was very concerned and Doc told me to just restart and not to worry....

1 skipped pill should not be a big deal, I am assuming here...
