Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I have found that I also have a lot of medical issues, and each doc does not want to change or get involved with a different issue on my body.
They seem to just want to focus on their specialty. Very frustrating!!!!
My PCP seems lost with the new Hep C - CURED diagnosis as she remembers all the old ones that came back later. I think the new drugs are doing their jobs or did the job!!
I am on strong meds also and have made a decision that I need to slowly get off this stuff. As I told you in my message my liver seems to be really absorbing the narcotics and working better to the point, I am feeling drugged.
Time to get weaned off or down slowly.....Won't be fun, but must do it.
You do what you need and always remember that you are in control of your body. You can always find a new doc, but I do know that is a royal pain.
Once just by changing PCP's , my life got a lot better.....
Hang in there and God Bless
Otherwise I agree you'll have to search the holistic approach, but they will not be specialists in individual diagnoses.
Physicians can only practice within their own specialty, or risk some serious consequences. That is why they refer to other specialists.
I have spent a lot of time researching, trying to understand why I would have all these things as I live a moderate lifestyle and eat fairly healthy foods (except for when I binge eat on occasion).
When we have Hep C, it affects our enzymes which are needed to break down foods. If foods aren't broken down properly, they get into our bloodstream and cause inflammation which in turn can cause anxiety, depression and arthritis along with other things.
I have been on benzos for many years. I was starting to think I have might have rheumatoid arthritis as I to have a lot of inflammation that I can't be brought under control by diet (can't can anti-inflammatories except for very short time), I discovered that benzos can cause all these problems when you have been on them long-term. So shortly I will be trying to get off these damn things shortly and yes I know it's going to be difficult.
I am also seeing an environmental doctor who discovered I have food sensitivities and am now taking allergy serum so that I become desensitized to these foods. These sensitivities (missing enzymes?), could be at the root of all the inflammation too.
I feel like I am having to slowly undo all the damage the medications and bad eating (sweets/carbs) have caused over the years. And also trying to deal with underlying emotional problems - don't underestimate how much this can affect your body.
