I wouldn't share in a way that could reinfect me, but my daughter keeps asking to borrow my earrings and I've been saying no for her sake.

I would continue to practice protective hygiene for my sake & others.
You can express your desire to donate organs. Its up to transplant protocol whether they'd accept them, you won't be here to know, so it doesn't matter.
You can offer to donate blood anytime. They'll ask your history and accept or reject your application.

I consider pierced earrings to be an intimate item. I wouldn't wear somebody else's nor offer them mine. If they've been properly disinfected it may be safe. Surgical instruments are re used every day.

Brigid, I think you are wise to tell her "no" as you are re enforcing good practice. We would never share a used tampon, would we? Hopefully she will never borrow anyone's pierced earrings.

Until I was diagnosed, I had never given a lot of thought to my blood and the dangers. Since I am very self conscious. It goes far beyond HepC, there are so many other blood born diseases and viruses to be cautious about.

Although we are undetected, we still have the antibody that shows that we were exposed. As far as I can remember, my daughter has the antibody. I think I will get them to check her again and see if anything has developed. I doubt it because her ALT and AST is normal.

Does that mean we can never contract the original genotype again that we once had?

Does undetected mean it is still lurking in the background somewhere?

I would not share a toothbrush or razor with anyone for fear I might get reinfected !!

OM Gosh! Good question!!! Beings that's how I got this stupid stuff Methinks no sharing of anything but files on my network! EVER! But that's just me folkz:o/

I am an organ donor as I read an article that there is such a great need for organs that people that already have Hep C were taking organs from others that had the same type of Hep C.

That will be up to the person (in the event I die suddenly) to decide.

I am getting up in years now, so not sure if they even want my organs anymore.

I just asked the dr. That today. It was my 6 month check up and all is good. The hep c will always show up in their bt. Just like chicken pox. He said we can donate body parts though. lol Not sure if anyone would want mine though. hehe I forgot to ask about the earrings and such. I would image it would be fine though seeing as the virus is gone
