I'm sure we all know better than to self diagnose & self prescribe otcs.
May I suggest consulting with a med prof? Get your labs. What does it look like you may be lacking? Why are you lacking it? If you don't have a full understanding of the pathophysiology of your morbidities & understand why some nutrients should or not be added, you could do more harm than good. Further, the source, quality, dosage should be adjusted to your unique health profile, lifestyle & medications.
Supplements that are useful or harmless for a stage 0 or 1 liver may not be recommended for F4....just a reminder because I am a health care prof & am concerned that too many proceed without consultation.
Driving cars: Driving cars has been linked to accidents and deaths. Many many people die from car accidents daily. This is a very hazardous thing to do and if you have a liver disease, it might kill you.
It's about aims and intent and the intent of a car is to get from A to B and perhaps risk personal injury in the process. It's risk assessment.
The aim of supplements is to improve health so if the benefits outweigh the risks then yes go ahead, but be aware of the risks and be informed.
Same applies to pharmaceuticals.
Same applies to lifestyle choices.
The more we can learn, the better decisions we can make. Don't just take one person's word for something, google it and learn to sort the good information from the prejudiced erroneous and misleading information. Trust your instincts. The more you use them, the better they get.
Hot sour soup from Asian restaurants...soothing for colds, BUT often contain "Woodear" mushrooms. These bad boys can make you bleed to death if you have any bleeding disorders like varices. They usually use straw mushrooms for most dishes, those are fine. I dont know why they use woodear mushrooms just for the hot sour soup.
Showed my list to PCP and she ok'd all of them.. What now?
ill read on. Thanks Kramer for posting.
It's like pot for me..the strongest warning they can come up with is "may cause increased fibrosis" but the upside I get from relief of stress and post treatment symptoms makes it an okay risk for me in a moderate amount.
If you feel you are getting benefits from your supplements and not just mindlessly downing them, then I'd say you are aware and have made an informed decision to continue (unless your Dr. says no!).
xoxoxoxo
Off to drink some Rooibos...so shoot me, lol.
