Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I went to a Hepatologist at the University of Michigan on Oct. 18th and she was thrilled about how far and how fast the new meds are coming along, but she did ASK me what I wanted to do. I told her I wanted the new meds and not INT and RIBA.
I asked about the IL28B test and she said that with the new meds, non -INT, that test wouldnt be necessary-fine by me.
She said that they dont have a Fibroscan machine, but are trying to get one. And, she ordered blood work and a flu shot to be done right there. Also, she wants me to get another liver ultrasound, which I can do closer to home sometime soon.
I asked about trials and she put me on the list, though cautioned me that because of my vertigo that they may not accept me, cause they want basically the "most perfect ones" available. I can kinda understand. But, she said, you never know, it may not be that big a deal to the trial people.
Again, the tylenol vs motrin debate was worded as, "Tylenol you can use, only if you are at or below 4000mg." No comment on motrin, so to me that is fine to take.
I got the Quad flu shot there and 24 hours later I had a low grade fever (102 or less) and full body fatigue. However, it may be a coincidence, but my mother, who did not get a flu shot this year, and I came down with a bad cold. Since then, 1.5 weeks ago, my dizziness got worse. I have been trying to blame it on the cold I have. But, man, even after 6 years of vertigo, it feels like my dizzy/brain fog has been getting worse, despite trying to keep my brain active with college work.
Oh, and 2 years ago I got the 1st shot of Hep A/B, but I did not finish the B-I intend to finish the series though.
By the way, my blood work came back fine, but I will load the results soon for you guys to help decipher. :)

Since I have had HCV for about 31 years, I know I have had tylenol when I was a child, plus other kinds of meds (cold medicines, pain relievers, and blood pressure pills) and I didn;t even know I had the virus.
As my stepdad once said, "They say showers are now bad for your health....oh, hell, I give up now!" LOL
