Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

Why did they skip Hepatitis D?? There's A, B, C, & E? But no D?

Thanks Clay ..good to know that you can only get "D" if you have "B"
Now "E" is a real concern for everyone, especially those with chronic health issues and for chronic liver issues it could be deadly.
I hope they come up with a vaccine like they do for A & B.

Well get ready for the continuing alphabet!! HZV will be around the corner at this rate. What is that expression about life? Something like the greatest risk to life is living I think.

Oh well, I'm eating meat and salads. Kramer that's so very true and gross. Not just at the salad bar either but EVERYWHERE. Wash your hands well often. The greatest way to reduce common transmission of disease. If you have OCD, then wash them less often. ;-)

My husband and I both had the Norovirus over Christmas a really nasty virus. His sister and husband brought it with them from out of town, still dont know why they didnt stay home for christmas when they had just been/ were sick. And it still makes me mad as his other sister and 90 year old mother got it too. Was the worst christmas ever for me as I was laid out from the 23rd till the 28th and DH got it on the 29th and had it into the New Year. Other than the infecting visit with the relates, we saw practically no one. all that work to put up a stupid tree and it never even got looked at, lol. anyway, Since I read that some of these bugs travel through the fecal-oral route ewww, I have become a bit of a germaphobe. The first thing I always did after returning home from an outing or shopping was wash my hands, but now I carry alcohol hand sanitizer and do a little prayer whenever I order a salad in a restaurant, lol. I have a face mask that i wear when i go to the Sally Ann because of my allergies, and i would love to wear it shopping during the cold and flu season but gave up on that as the cashiers always look alarmed like i am going to rob them, lol, lol. Now some thing else wary of, sheesh. OCD here I come.

Hep E I believe is spreading in Egypt and other middle eastern countries at a fast rate. Hopefully a vaccination will become available for that soon - that's all we need right ?
