But for me........I rarely buy frozen........and can't afford Organic anything.
Wish I could just GROW..............Hell......I can't even do that:(

I agree with Kat though, Farmer's Market are the way to go when you can, it's just not always convenient.
@Bob, for me its not so much a matter of convenience as it is money. If I could Id buy all my food at the farmers market -cheese, yogurt, produce, etc. but I shop there selectively since its quite expensive. I never go to Costco as I live alone and dont own a car. I didnt know they paid their workers well but to me that would be a motivating factor to shop there.
My dream is to have a tiny house with a little garden and grow my own non-toxic food. The food supply is so toxic. 90% of the garlic sold in the U.S. is from China. Id never buy food from China.
The chemical lobby is very strong and lots of toxic chemicals are used on the produce here. When a pesticide is proven to be so toxic that its finally taken off the market, its still legal to manufacture and then exported for use in other countries and then that produce is imported and sold here.
Heres an invaluable list of produce listed in order of toxicity, apples being the most toxic. This influences my shopping decisions, knowing that apples are much more toxic than pears, Id opt for pears. Its an amazing website full of fantastic information.

Apples are scary, esp. up here in WA.
I grow alot of my fruits and veggies, but we are lucky to live in a rural area of Colorado where I have 3 farmer's markets a week. It's very agricultural around here, and since these are small communities even the organics are very reasonable:)
For those who don't have the room for gardens etc, maybe check into co-op farming. Sometimes you can get a plot in exchange for something as a little work (wedding etc)
