Just wondering. Has anyone out there had there shots for hep A & B? I was just watching a commercial about it and it got me wondering if it's something i should look into?

Oh boy Deb YES!!! You sure should have those shots and then be checked for immunity after a few weeks as they don't always work the first time.
I'm somewhat shocked your Dr. has not already taken care of that for you. Unlike Hep C, Hep A and B are easy to contract and could be fatal for someone with Hep C or any other compromised health state.
Find out if you have already received the shots!

When my hep c was first discovered my dr said I had to get the shots for A&B because if I didn't it could possibly be life threatening to me. It was kind of a pain because it was several shots and my drs office didn't carry them, but after research I found them at the health dept.

So my personal advice is check into them. We have enough to worry about.

Definitely check into it Deb, I had my first two already and the final vaccine will be in May..My GI's office administered.

Yes, you need to take the A and B vaccine.

Yes bestshot my doctor advised me to do this as soon as I felt better after tx ended. I just took my second shot a couple of days ago. I will get my third one next week and a final booster next year. Believe it or not I had no side effects from it other than the shot in the arm.

From what I understand Hep A and B are easier to catch than Hep C. Hep A and B can be ingested through bad water, food, or unsanitary conditions. Kramer is right it could be deadly to some one who has Hep C.

Wow, I can't believe 15 years with hep C. TX twice 2 Dr.s and not even mentioned to me!!!! I have wondered for years but always forgot when i went to the Dr. I will definitely look into it. Especially since i like to travel and have done some in the past 15 years.!!!! Just another example of poor dr. care.

I had the shots years ago but my Dr. at the time never checked to see if they "took" in my system. My new Dr. did a blood test only to find the "B" never took so he repeated the process. Be sure you have the shots and are then checked to see that they "took".

Yes, that is the first thing my doc tested for once I was positive for hep c. I had already had shots before going to Africa, and was positive for antibodies for both a and b
