Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Hello Everyone-
I hope everyone had a good weekend. Even though I was still in a state of shock over the news that I received on Wednesday I still managed to have a decent weekend. I have decided that I'm going to face this dragon head on, I'm not sure if I will be doing it with tx or nutrition and alternative treatments but I do know I will be doing it with a positive attitude and a smile on my face. I went back to work today after a 5 day rest and I have to say it was the best medication for me. My collegues were absolutely wonderful to me. One collegue shared a very nice story with me that I would like to share with the rest of you.
There was this man that was a very positive individual, he was so positive that people actually got irritated with him. Well one day he got into a terrible car crash, he was rushed to the hospital and while laying on the table he opened up his eyes and saw the look of horror on the doctors and nurses faces. He immediately put his hand up and said "wait a minute here, I want everyone to stop what they are doing and listen to me. I want you to work on me as if I am going to live, not as if I'm going to die" This stirred a renew sense of energy to this team of doctors and nurses. I don't need to tell you the outcome, I think you can figure that out for yourself..
This is how I have decided to approach my healing process, as if I'm going to live!! Wow that feels so good to say that.
Now that I've been officially diagnosed I will be meeting with a liver specialist next Monday. I'm deathly afraid of having the liver biopsy. I'm going to ask them to do the Fibrosure blood test. My understanding is that it will give them a pretty good picture of how my liver is doing. Does anyone out there have any experience with this test?
I've been eating etremely healthy and juicing every night at dinner. It really does make a big difference in how you feel. Another thing that I started doing was Reflexology. It's absolutely incredible. If you have the means to get this done it really is a huge help with pain control and stress. I highly recommend it if you can afford it.
Well that's what I wanted to share with everyone. I know there has been some negative stuff going on, not really sure what the whole story is, and to be honest with you don't really want to either. I'm here to heal and hopefully be of encouragement to someone else who is trying to do that as well.

As far as a liver biopsy...do not be afraid of it. I don't want to talk you into doing it if you are against it but I just want to be sure you don't make your decision based on fear of it. I just had my liver biopsy last Wednesday and I was back to work the next day. I've had dental procedures that were worse.
Anyway...good luck at the docs Monday!! You've come a long way in a short time.
