I hate to twell you this but truth is there are always new tx being studyed we all must wait not till they clam to have a cure but like a year later to find out the long term recsults also. This virious mutates in fact it is the worlds best muttaer just like the cold cahnges every year the hcv vriuos changes every time you thow something different at it. Sorrybut that is the truth. I watch the cure for the common cold far only then can we can make a real cure for the hcv virious. Sorry just telling you the truth. Wish someone had told me a long time agoo the real truth.

I am speaking of type 1 dont know much about the other ones. Maybe they can be cured.

Im teling you this because I dont want you just to be another geny pig. And be stuck with side effects far the rest of your life. That can be in some cases worse than the virios itself.

Hello DK. I posted this as encouragement to those of us waiting for new drugs to become available. Some of them are in trials now and it is your choice as to enrol in one or not.
There are many here on DS who did trials and are cured now. There are some who did not have good luck with a trial.
It' all about good news, options and getting well.
If you do not want to enter a trial, then that is your choice and still be encouraged that these drugs will pass trial and get to market in the next year.
AT that point you will have to pay for them though.
Nobody is twisting your arm to do a trial but because of these trials and those who enrol in them, new drugs will get to you and others.

I was and still am on a clinical trial which had me undetected since day 9, no bad side effects. It was a 12 week trial. with a year of follow up blood work, it has been 7 months since I began the trial and still undetected. I am so happy I did my trial. But I did do research on the drugs first.

The AASLD is in Boston this weekend and into next week. I am very excited to here the reports and results of some of the latest trials. I want to hear all about GS-7977, their 5885, and the Abbott quad combo - they are my favorites in this horse race.

Like DK - I can't help but feel a little worried. After failing a Protease Inhibitor and waiting for a new drug to be developed - I can't help but feel afraid of the virus becomming resistant. The fear of loosing hope due to resistance is heartbreaking. I'm not telling anyone what to do, just thinking outloud for myself.

I want my next treatment to be a real winner. I'm not going to just take any thing. I don't ever want to take interferon again and yet I would suffer 12 weeks of anything (suffer the damage) to be cured in 12 weeks. But - no way of knowing.

Different drugs work different ways and yes you should be rightfully concerned about that. I always suggest asking if any trial one should undertake might leave them in a situation where further treatments may not work, before entering into it.
