The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

Funny, my HCV doc's office seems to be slammed with new patients! I think something is working and that brings a smile to my face. People are starting to seek help and the docs are realizing that HCV IS a BIG problem.

Cancer screening should be done for people with HCV.

I think they pretty well do for Stage Four/Cirrhotics. A normal abdominal ultrasound is pretty effective for tumours and ascites.
They also do a tumour marker blood test but that is not always reliable.

I do like the other link though too and "Ass cities" is funny. You have to love "auto-correct." It's awful when you don't notice it and then add your reply. Blame all my typos on that please. :-)

Yes the other link was a link I was using to defend the medical profession in another discussion that was busy throwing Dr.s under a bus.
Sure mistakes are made but overall we enjoy a much longer life thanks to medical research and intervention.
I am glad they are there when I need them!

I've had an amazing ID Specialist for 15 years who cares about me very much. Also, I've worked with many amazing Nephrologists for 17 years. Ive seen a lot of great medicine practiced and know many doctors who absolutely do care about our pts. I have a unique experience and perspective though as a long-time patient and as a clinical practitioner in an interdisciplinary team. I've seen mistakes and some shoddy practices too but that is not at all the norm where I work. I've also seen physicians call suboptimal practice out too. To think that one can't trust *any* medical professionals and dismiss them all as uncaring is a sad framework to work from and that WILL adversely affect your care guaranteed. Learn the facts and gain knowledge as we are a big part of the team.
