Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

However, I'm now realizing this report is not completely up-to-date. For instance, this next study is included in the report, but it's been discontinued long ago. It's the widely known study between Gilead and BMS [that we all signed a petition about.j It's under Franciscus' DAA Combinations and Interferon Free Trials but it's not listed under the "Cancelled Trials" section. Correct me if I'm wrong. Getting old and stuff gets by.

This next study is something I've been watching that is active (I verified it at the study site locations). But I couldn't find it on Franciscus' list on DAA Combinations or Interferon-Free trials.

clinicaltrials.gov is sooooo complicated and out-of-date. It's a big job to go through the studies one by one and verifying each.
For example, last month, I tried to find study locations for a Genetech trial and called Genetech (Sponsor) several times. They told me the study was on and when the sties were recruiting, their contact info would be listed. I had to play detective and try to match study locations with a zip codes. When I called two locations, they both said this study was CANCELLED. I called Genetech back and they said, "Hey, your trial is cancelled." They said they just go by what clinicaltrials.gov has. HUH? If it's cancelled, the sponsor cancels it, probably because they've decided proceeding is dangerous or won't make them money. They should at least know it and communicate it to everyone. I spent hours that day chasing my tail around.
I've yet to find a source that truly has updated info on studies. I wish it was out there, somewhere. However, Franciscus comes the closest. I guess my message here is that no list is 100%. People still must go to clinicaltrials.gov and personally check out the studies, one by one. It's pretty insane.
