Wonderful news!!!

They are finally using the C word. (CURED)
Since my hubby has been cleared of the virus for over 5 years now, and I 3 years, I just recently started using the actual word, cured, and this week I get to read this wonderful article.
I am estatic about this news.
Especially that the meds they are refering to are the combo drugs that I have been on for 48 weeks.

I think that is wonderful!!, but I am a little confused. This is based on a 7 yr study, correct? I know 3 people who had to do treatment again after 10 yrs as it came back. Is this unusual? I pray that it IS a cure and not a "potential" cure. I do have to get one thing off my chest. They always say how thousands of people refuse treatment due to side effects. They never report that millions of people do not do treatment because they cannot afford it! When asked to the Department of Health.. you actually let people die of this disease because you will not help with the meds? They hung their heads and said unfortunately.. yes. I spent 2 months begging and pleadin for help from pharmacutical companies right down to Montel Williams. "sorry there is nothing we can do" My 60 yr old uncle died of hep c just this year because no one would help him, it was to late. I would hope more than anything for this to be a cure! I hope they also help more people instead of worring about the almighty dollar and what is would cost to treat millions of people. I am so sorry I am going on, I am crying now for being so negative and for that I apologize!!! but I am crying because I hope its true and I hope they help those who cannot help themselves. Breaks my heart that everyone of you have to even endure this disease as McKenzie said it best... WE are human!!

hello every one the word cure can be miss leading at times because we are all in hopes of a cure and lord knows I for one wish there was a cure but I think that our pharmaceutical companies really don't want a cure this is a money maker for them for one for 4 shots a month of pegasys interferon runs us about $1600.00 and ribivarion is around $800.00 a month for grand total for 6 months treatment is $14,400.00 and the treatment dose knock your readings down to undetectable levels and hell that is a blessing in its own right but is it truly gone ? We can only hope. now if I have offended any one I am sorry it is not my intention to be so cynical but the almighty dollar is a good cause for this pharmaceutical companies to make a buck.

A cure for Hep C? HMMMMMMM.....it would be great for many of us who are suffering with this disease. I can no longer afford the treatments, even though I have insurance. Plus the side effects put me in the hospital.
I know there must be a cure, but I agree the drug companies are out for the almighty dollar!!!

I have been told there is no cure and have come to learn that those that have cleared the virus for a sustained period of time have traded one thing for another as far as health is concerned. I know those that are very sick from the treatment meds...sorry folks..but that is my experience..I pray for a CURE...without suffering permanebt deadly sides for life from therapy...lets not forget the politics of the drug companies making money...this is the sad part..but reality...for those that have cleared..or feel they are cured...and have no significant damage to other parts of their organs and bodies...I am happy for you.
