I am going to be getting Sovaldi and riba for 24 weeks .
.It is confirmed AT LAST, dont know the in and outs of any financial costs but EAP has agreed to let me have the meds as I fulfill all the criteria for compassionate release...
YEAH

and just in time i hope ...
I got my blood work back today and my Liver is no longer compensated all my Enzymes have rapidly declined in the last 2 weeks .Not sure why ,I have fluid in my ankles and ascites are building up again ..
I am praying that they send the prescription and meds really soon .. I have wiated this long I will hang in a bit more
I will wait on the Lord and trust that it will be soon ant suggestions on how to improve my liver health in a meaningful way ..I eat "clean" and take milk thistle ..
Doc says maybe 3 weeks more to wait ...

I am glad you are finally getting your meds but it disgusts me that you were refused treatment earlier.

I just said a prayer to the Creator of the Universe to heal you as I believe all things are possible, even at this late stage. Forgiveness is key I just learned this weekend so that God can send his blessings to you..

There should not be any wait. When my doctor gave Gilead the prescription, I got the meds the next day. Are you registered with Support Path and Momentum in Canada? They should have done all this already.

jan, it's great you are getting the meds. I'll keep praying for you. You have had so much to deal with. I read your profile again today, and my heart goes out to you. Before my hep c treatments last Spring, I was having issues with the portal vein, persistent abdominal fluid and swelling in ankles and legs. After treatments, the fluid issue immediately started getting better, and now, 9 months after completion of my treatments, I am not having fluid removed at all. I probably advanced to Cirrhosis before my hep c treatments, and in July when I have my annual mri and other tests, I'll know. It will be 5 years in July since my liver transplant. Thanks Dawter and Marilyn I am getting the meds through the EAP and the government so Gilead is not involved that I know of ..
Unless the Doctor tells me more .
He told me today and said EAP had approved my appeal this time .I will hang in and let you know asap ..
Marilyn I am happy to hear that the ascites go away.. does the pressure in the portal vein ease up as well and enzymes go back to normal ???
I sure hope so ..I have had fluid before ,and then gave me strong diuretics and it eased off after christmas ..I am back on those meds now and hoping I dont have to get the fluid removed this time ...I guess I will always have cirrhossis but it should be able to heal a little if I can kick this dragon..

Pray for you daily JanS and kept watch for this day to hear your good news PTL...finally is right you have been strong and I must say I don't know if I could have held on so strong like you have...may the Lord bless you with a quick change of meds to come your way...He does know your conditions.. and when you get started it is fast as that Solvaldi goes to work ASAP...I will keep praying for you that you get your meds sooner...God can do it...I stopped my milk thistle one month before TX then they changed my TX date so I started for another week then quit again...I did not want anything to interfere wiith the work of the drug...Congratulations...you must be so hopeful now and .God Bless

jan, yes, my enzymes have been in the normal range for months now, and when I had an ultra-sound of my liver 7 months ago, it said all the veins were patent and didn't mention the portal vein partial blockage that had always been mentioned before, so maybe it's better too. I'll know more at the end of July when I take all my annual exams. They will put me through lots of stuff then, because it will be 5 years at that point since my transplant.

I got off all supplemental herbs for a month before I started harvoni. I didn't want any interactions. I still take a multi vitamin, a bone formula with calcium and magnesium, a probiotic, a B vitamin, extra vitamin D3 and Biotin.

You should have seen the earlier list! I was taking up to 30 caps a day. Now about 9.

So happy that you are getting the meds soon. Thank GOD this was approved for you considering your current circumstances. I will pray for your swift and permanent healing. Marilyn's story should give you great hope - her fairly new liver was under serious attack by the virus until Sovaldi and Olsyio saved her (geno 1a - same as I was).

You are going to be fine. Sovaldi is so powerful!
