Kathyrsh, there really is no way around it that I know of. I guess it's just a reminder to everyone that anything you put on the internet is open for the eyes of everyone. You can, however, mark your journal entries as private or for friends only and that cuts down on the number of people that can look at that stuff. Your personal pics can also be designated for friends only, etc.

I guess the best thing is for everyone to remain aware and not put any personal information (phone numbers, names, addresses) on the site unless they are totally okay with doing so.

I really doubt that anyone would search for any of us under our screen names anyway...most people use a screen name that is far removed from their real names.

well, i don't like it one bit. i didn't know that the things we post here are on the internet. i knew is was public info as far as anyone joining the forum can access it , but i didn't know it was just put out there.

i don't know what to do now.

nothing is private on-line, some sites even have tracking cookies. sucks!

Thats why if you are on Myspace or Facebook you should NEVER post anything bad about you employer. Most major companies have fraud or security people that spend the day searching for employees or company name to see what is being said by whom...

Vew459 is corect. Use a screen name or don't say things to give yourself away. I found DS while researching a question about symptoms of treatment...

As you know this week, The Administration installed the lock option on the pics dept. before that was the personal journals, this way the member has the choice to lock his or her pics, & journals.
Now if only there was a way to lock our profiles, since people complain about it, I am positive they are trying to find a way to fix this problem too.
I must tell you that most sites are like this, with a message board, if I google Mckenzie & Richard we do come out on different sites when google.
That's why the internet is such a wonderful tool, you can find a missing person that you have been trying to find all your life, and find him or her on the web.
Then again it may be a bad tool for those who do not want to be found, it depends on the individual, which is why DS give the option to it's members to lock or not lock their journals, or pictues.
Hope this helps you understand why you have the options to lock or unlock different part of your profile.
