When everything is going my way I feel happy optimistic hopeful positive strong.
I can't say I live like no tomorrow because I definitely want many more tomorrows and hope to have the health to live them well.
Very frustrating the health care system. Stick with it, everything will work out. We are living in a good time of hcv awareness & the rush to get affordable treatment. Not so long ago the options were few & things looked bleak especially for those of us who have relapsed on older treatments.
Have faith that things will turn around. My favourite saying....this too shall pass. Big hug.
I do sympathize with your frustration and anger but, there's no way in hell are you going to get the help you need if you exhibit that sort of attitude whether or not it's a righteous and honest attitude because the people who you're going to have to work with will not be so understanding and sympathetic as we are in here. So my suggestion is to start throwing everyone who you encounter with respect to your healthcare providers more honey so that the bears will come in to the cage and you end up charming them into submission.
In other words you take your prior terrible experiences with finding the proper doctors and other healthcare providers and improve on it by taking everything that you went through before and improve on it. Start by interviewing the doctor's (Yes! there are more than one hepatologist around) you want to schedule an appointment with by asking them or their nurses whether or not anything similar to what you previously experienced will also happen their doctor. Write down as many questions that you can think of that will help you determine who you're going to choose to become your new doctor. You need to take charge of your own treatment choices!
After all this is your life we're talking about and on one else! Do you honestly think that you're the only one that has experienced what you just went through in working with the current healthcare system?
Well, I'm here to tell you that many of us who have been through all sorts of hell have also experienced what you have but, the one commonality that we all do have in here is that we never give up, Never give in and that's what you have to embrace DS.
The other thing you need to do is to see about getting a prescription of something to alter your mood in a more positive light if you get my meaning. Because you're showing obvious signs of some sort of depression and you need help in counteracting that so you can have a clearer more positive outlook on life because you need to get focused on getting back to getting yourself treated with these new meds okay?
This is not party line that I'm writing to you DS. This is all firsr hand experience that many more in here will echo in suggesting what you need to do to get you back on track to receiving the proper treatment in the hopes of you reaching SVR.
This is from someone like myself who has gone through a liver transplant, nine failed treatment regimens in between until finally the last one, the tenth got me to where I am today SVR still!!! So get yourself dusted off and jump back on the saddle because it's gong to be a hell of a ride. And yet if you hang on long enough, you'll get to SVR also! Btw, welcome to the HepC community!
Is highly recommend seeing a counselor for a few sessions to hrlp you partialize and prioritize your goals. You have mental health coverage with your health insurance. Avail yourself to it if you really want to help yourself and be able to say that you really tried everything. Connor to a few sessions. We all need a little hrlp from time to time.
You'll figure out a plan and treat this one last time to put it behind you. I really wasn't here to post but your thread compelled me. Best of luck to you.
Be good to yourself. I've been told that before at times when I've needed to do just that. You're worth it.
I have to agree that our medical system leaves A LOT to be desired except for those lucky few who have excellent health coverage and access to great doctors.
I'm sorry you failed triple. That alone must be insanely frustrating.
It seems perfectly appropriate to come here to vent We can't all be shiny happy people...god knows I'm not. I'm just a neurotic robot.
Hope things get better...
Lord knows how many times I vented in here myself and there was always someone offering some suggestions to help me out.
Now when you say: "except for those lucky few who have excellent health coverage and access to great doctors." I have to disagree with you because I got treatment form some of the best liver doctors in the world and yet at the time I didn't even have any healthcare coverage for the new year yet because as a Boilermaker, I must work at least 300 or so hours within the calender year before their health care insurance starts to cover me and when i was first hospitalized and even when I was first diagnosed, I didn't have any coverage whatsoever and yet in both occasions I was uninsured.
Did I know what to do ? Did I have to wait @ a doctor's office for over 2 and sometimes 3 hours only to find out that the doctor wasn't there and the nurses didn't bother to inform me/ Of course it happened to me and more than just a couple of times Roboto and DS.
But instead of giving up all together I kept at it until something happened and the rest is history. There aren't many folks who have had to deal with this disease that has gone through as much as i have in all of the years i have been battling this virus and the healthcare system in general. has it been frustrating and disappointing? Heck Yeah it's been that way for me also and yet I never gave up or gave in because simply put my faith in God never waivered to the point of actually just calling it quits. Was I depressed? Heck yeah! Did i have to go on meds for it? Heck yeah because nobody wanted to be around me or listen to my constant woe is me so after realizing this I discovered that my problem was my perspective in how unfair life was treating me. And for the first time in quite some time I took enough time to look at myself, and looking from outside in. what I noticed about me I was immediately disappointed in the way I was looking at my life and right there and then I decided that my whole perspective, outlook, attitude about my life and all things in general must change if I was to get through this.
And the one thing I needed to do immediately was to blame everyone else for my troubles. I also needed to become a person with a more positive attitude and I don't mean "Shiny Happy" as you're implying but nonetheless I had to become less cynical about life in general. I also had to take ownership of how I behaved towards anyone who, or anything that would disappoint me. So instead of exhibiting my anger and frustration and just being totally negative, I decided to start giving everyone and everything the benefit of the doubt I had with anything and anyone.
Was I perfect at changing? Let me tell you that nobody is no matter what they may imply and I know I certainly wasn't nor am i there still but, I still keep trying. And that's because I refuse to give up or to give in. So vent away DS! But remember this. "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." Finally, as a point of reference, do you know who came up with that similar quote?
Benjamin Franklin but his went like this: " "A spoonful of honey will catch more flies than a gallon of vinegar." DS, Roboto, go start catching some flies already. Just never give up and never give in.should become your mantra from now on.
