Too bad they couldn't cooperate and go with a winning combo that seemed to work already. Oh well. Corporate greed and profits will live long and prosper. At least Interferon made for an "interesting" ride. Well more of a bad trip actually but I'm still here dammit!

That article confused me. It said that genotype 1 pts were 100% SVR from the orals, but then said they would add the oral to rib and inteferon for genotype 1's for the new treatment after the trials.. WHY the inteferon?????

Brigid- I think you misread this, Gilead are conducting quite a few trials. The trials with RIba/IFN are totally different trials.

"A ***fourth*** Phase 3 clinical trial is evaluating sofosbuvir combined with ribavirin and peg-IFN (pegylated interferon) for patients with HCV genotypes 1, 4, 5 and 6.'

So, just one more trial of many and they are also using gts 4,5,and 6 that are less common here and you don't read much about.

My take is, the more trials the merrier. Maybe some will work better than others for different populations.

Hey Guys,

My two specialists seem to think I will get onto a third treatment next year ,mid to late....

My specialist is actualy friends with the CEO of Gilead or if not CEO,someone very high up, apparently he is an aussie.

Sorry i am drifting,but my docs seem to both think that I will be on Gilead sofosbuvir,Riba and interferon again,as my doc has said that if I fail sofosbuvir,my chances of using it again are zero,it is not like the other treatments were it eventually passes out of your body.


That is the down side of sofosbuvir,so my docs say that if interferon helps even 5 to 20% it will be worth adding.

Well I dont know if I will do it with interferon,My body and life are in a fairly good place again,dont know if I could do interferon again,dont think mentally I could cope .

I suppose lets wait and see how Gileads phase 111 trials all pan out.
