Interesting. I like the fact that the author had a difficult time finding this information. It seems like HCV has been an overlooked disease.

To this day, all I know is that I'm a geno 2.

I always meant to ask my Dr, but always forgot. I'm not sure where all my paperwork ended up, either.

For some reason in Canada they do not do il28 testing or geno subgroup either. All I know is I am geno 1. I called my old Hep Dr. today to find out if I was 1a or 1b and was tole the test is only done on a special application to Health Canada.
We have state of the art healthcare here but I'm scratching my head on the lack of interest shown here in these DNA and virus profiles.

I believe if my memory serves me correct that some of the new combination DAA's (both protease as well as Polymerase inhibitors) are showing that gentotype & subtypes no longer have any relevance but, I don't remember exactly which one's were noted...

I do remember that I read it in one of the articles posted by the squirrel!! lolololo

This will soon no longer be a relevant factor in the treatment of HCV with the newer DAA's that will hopefully be approved this year or next. My guess is that the editor hasn't got around to reading that article yet. :>) :>) :>)
