Geno 1, 2, 3 All oral treatment

Once-daily oral daclatasvir plus sofosbuvir was associated with high rates of sustained virologic response among patients infected with HCV genotype 1, 2, or 3, including patients with no response to prior therapy with telaprevir or boceprevir. (Funded by Bristol-Myers Squibb and Pharmasset (Gilead); A1444040 ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT01359644.)

Daclatasvir is at FDA for approval so that opens up the possibility of it being used "off label" as S&O has been.
This combo is effective for geno 2 and 3 though as well!

glad to see more NDA's competition-help to obtain a get out of jail free card with all the monopoly Gilied's own...Bristol Meyers has been in and out of the trials for years as I have watched the progression...the one thing I am surprised still about is the small number of participants in trials...I would think they would have more patients to compare the possibilities of interaction...we all have different DNA's that will react so uncommon

I forgot they have had multiple trials...this one K posted is the latest trial...forgot they have phases... over 5,500 patients tested with Daclatasvir...

The good news I take from this is that Daclatasvir is an effective oral treatment when combined with Sofosbuvir for Geno 1,2,3
Daclatasvir is already at FDA so just like Olysio was approved and is being used off label with Sofosbuvir, so can Daclatasvir.
Olysio/Sofos is only good for Geno 1

My Hepatologist (when he was going to take me off tx in past before getting "undetected") told me I could retake Sovaldi in future....

I hope I never have to do any tx again.......but so good to know they are all so serious about Hep C now - I bet it is watching Gilead make all this money......

Good to hear......for now, hope all stays well with me and if I ever needed tx again, my body needs a rest and so does my Riba Rage. Riba should be destroyed!!

Hubby fearing the Riba changed my personality for good, I sure hope not!!

Oh right - Daclatasvir - had forgotten about that! Been reading about it for months - how awesome it is - of course, has to be used with "something else" - I've seen it with Sovosbuvir and Asunaprevir in trials.

Don't know what genotypes other than Geno 1 are targeted by Daclatasvir and Ansunaprevir - I was doing all my research on Geno 1 back when I was buried in it (the virus AND the research).

TH - I don't think the facts are anywhere near in as far as whether Daclatasvir is "as good" as S/O. Well, frankly, they aren't even on the horizons. No one knows the answer to your question (which is better?) at this early point in time. Dac. is still in trials, I think, or just now in to FDA. It will be off label with Sovaldi.

Your doc, if he is a good one, will know what will be best for YOU now - while your insurance is still in place. That's why really want to get moving on this - see the doctor - trust him.

My doc loves Dac with Solvadi. Gilead pulled support from BMS two years ago on this combo so they could come up with their own drug & get the lions share of the money....that would be Sol/Led. BMS drug Dac will get FDA approval but likely next year & certainly not before S&L is approved in Oct. I'd do Sol/Dac in a heartbeat. I'd do Sol/Olysio also but getting approval of off-label drugs is daunting for most of us & access is being denied more than it is being approved. There are several lucky souls on DS who got off-label meds. Count yourselves very lucky because it is simply not the norm no matter what you've been told otherwise. Keep pushing for appropriate tx, keep being an advocate for yourself & keep pushing for tx. We are going to get our meds!
