Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Anyone in Marin or Sonoma Counties in CA, check out The Ceres Project at http://www.ceresproject.org/ ... Last year, when I still lived down that way, I was all set up to get this wonderful free service for people going thru treatment for any life-threatening illness.
I'm guessing if you check around your areas, there would be Meals on Wheels (for a slight fee, and sometimes, they don't demand you pay any money in some locations), mainly meant for those over 62, I think it is; but, (even tho' I was only 55 at the time) since I lived in a 55+ community, during a foot/ankle surgery, I got MoWs delivered for about 3 months, and paid what I could afford - that County sent out bills, but when I called them, they said just pay what I could.
And I imagine there might be other projects similar to Ceres Project (which are VERY healthy meals, much better than MoWs) in many larger areas, too.
During my 12 wks of Treatment, I actually didn't need any food delivered & was able to cook my regular meals most of the time, and the more I did prepare such good, yet simple, meals, the better I felt about the accomplishment, too! I ate lots of Salmon, Sweet Potatoes, and sauteed garlicky Swiss Chard (sometimes 2x/wk) cuz it's just such a good combo of food!
Just a reminder that good nutrition is very important during treatment, and if you're sicker with other health issues during yours than I was, I definitely would suggest, if over 55, you ck on some kind of meal delivery service.

When I saw the N. Bay area, I figured it didn't apply to me at all.
We have those programs here!! Just never crossed my mind.
I have some people in mind I should suggest them to.
I am age 61 and I keep forgetting I qualify for stuff if needed. Hubby going to hit age 66, so he would fit right in.
There are times you just need help.

Buy hey, I love salmon and sweet potatoes - so that sounds great.
Oh, and it's Garnet Yams that are the best for us & that's usually all I'll buy. But if you ever run across a special on Japanese Sweet Potatoes, grab some - they are the best tasting things!
