I just wanted to let any of you who, like me, have shingles. I started taking L-Lysene four days ago and the shingles have pretty much disappeared. It could be that it went away naturally but I'm pretty confident that the Lysene did it. I still have the dry skin rash though but at least the shingles left.

So what I wanted to say was..."try the L-Lysene" it's available at any health supplement section in most stores.

had them a few months ago, don't know what the doctor gave me, but lasted only a few days and they were gone. take care.

Is shingles a side effect of tx?

Shingles isn't a sx of tx but it is a sx to being in your 50's....which happens to be the median age for hep c.
Just a coincidence I imagine

Shingles is the herpes virus, it is the same virus as chickenpox and related to oral and genital simplex 1 and 2.
It is not a side effect of anything BUT when your immune system is compromised it can become active. You never clear the virus (sunds familiar?) but it can ne suppressed by anti viral drugs such as Acyclovir.

Also too many almonds and some other nuts can upset the lyseine/arginine balance...surprise.... surprpise..... herpes.....shingles.

L-Lysene to the rescue or as Mo says good ol' Acyclovir or Famvir.... some take both lyseine and acylovir as a preventative daily

i never knew i had herpes simplex until i was in treatment and my immune system was extremely low. several times i got herpes on my lips but since treatment ended i'm back to normal and no herpes. i do take lysine and zinc because i read that it helps herpes virus.

i think it's weird that i never knew i had herpes until treatment?

Few years back I had this rash (about the size of a nickle) on my upper thigh. The dr said it was shingles. I too took acyclovir--5 pills per day for 10 days. It went away. I find when I am stressed it comes back in the same place. I now keep a bottle of pills handy. I even had a shingles shot. Man, when I get through all of this, I want to do a Med. cruise. God grant me----
