I posted on the board when I first started in early November, then was doing so well I was to busy to come back.

Still doing well, but thought I would pass on a few side effects and then ask about a new one I am having.

The headaches I expected. Have a few more of them than usual, but so far have been able to prevent them from turning into massive migraines.

Bad heartburn that comes and goes. Sometimes it's just that I feel full right up to my breast bone.

If your doctor tells you that you can continue to take Prilosec while on Harvoni, very nicely tell him he must have it mixed up with what you can take on other Hep C treatments.

My doctor is a nice guy but he told me the month before he wrote the prescription that I would need to stop the Prilosec once I started on the Harvoni.

Then the following month he was looking my routine meds list and said no problem. I pointed out my Prilosec and he said no problem again.

He was wrong. All the literature talks about not taking any type of time released acid blocker. So did my specialty pharmacist. Several times.

I can take Tums, BUT if has to be at least 4 hours before or 4 hours after I take my pill. And it doesn't help much.

The following helps me a bit with that heartburn.

Chewing peppermint flavored gum. Not spearmint or cool mint.

Forcing my self to belch. I know it sounds weird, but here is what I do. Either laying flat on my tummy with my head to the side, or standing straight up, or sitting straight up, I take a slow long deep breath with my mouth open.

Take in as much air as I can. Keep my mouth open, and hold my breath while tightening up my stomach muscles.

I will start to get a few tiny popping sounds and if I can keep holding my breath all the way in that way, I will belch several times with my mouth wide open. Not sickening sounding and no food comes up like acid reflux.

Then I relax, let it all the way out, breath deeply a few times in and out, and then repeat.

Also mixing club soda with ginger ale or 7 up helps a bit if I sip it, not guzzle it. I always drink the kind with the sugar. Tastes much better to me and no after taste.

Here is the weird symptom. It is one of the same that I had when I tried and failed at treatment in 2011 with Interferon and Ribavirin.

Strange odors that permeate my food, the house, and my sleep.

There is no smell actually there, but I smell it non-the less.

Usually it smells like hot oil, like from a deep fryer, but no french fry smell. Other times it smells like wet dog mixed in with people piss. I have checked. My dogs don't smell like anything but nice clean dog. I checked all my carpets. No piss from human or dog to be found. Othertimes it smells rancid or like spoiled milk. I checked for that too.

Has anyone else had this? Any suggestions to at least make it less nauseating?
