Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

I've been reading the the posts this a.m, and i am so happy to see the neg. hep c lab results.....the new drugs are working for most....

then i look back on 2012, 48 weeks in triple(victrelis) tx.....I relapsed after just 4 weeks

I know there are new drugs coming soon, but I haven't heard anything coming for cirrhotics.......

I wish i could be more encouraged that will happen.......I'm still anemic and my BP has been running in the 140's/90's..........I've taken BP meds for years.......anybody know if neurontin or cymbalta could be a culprit ?

I truly don't like being negative, but I really need encouragement.......

1/1/13- 5 years alcohol free.......my daughter is very proud of me.....she told me so

Its ease to do that with this virius thenI just think of those commercials where dogs and cats have ben mistreated and after a Lonngg hug from my dog and an extra doggie treat Im ok again :-) Keep on pushing my friend :-)

First CONGRATS on 5YRS sober! Thats not an easy thing to do! Been there and done that! Been sober for 30 yrs! I do know how that is and YES it is something to be very proud of! Are you keeping up on what is going on in the tx world? There is some amazing stuff Going on!You may find it informative, it may also give you the hope you are looking for! Look back at the past posts,I believe that cirrhotics were included in the trials and its kicking butt! I will be praying for you. I will ask him for peace for you!

I signed up for a clinical trail on clinicaltrial.gov site and a nurse called me from my area and asked if I was cirrhotic the trail they have is only for HEP C cirrhotic, so I would check it out.

Hello Bethan.
I totally understand your feelings. I have been on HCV support sites for a few years (had it 40 years) and have researched and supported others, failed treatment myself, have cirrhosis and hoping they will get the new drugs to us soon.
While I am very happy for those that have recently been diagnosed, treated and been cured, part of me feels like my "place in line" keeps getting pushed back.
I know that is wrong for me to feel that way, it's just the way the cards are dealt.
There are many of us still waiting. You are not alone. Your sadness is not unfounded but try to hang on to hope. It's just around the corner. Our turn will come!

I'm sorry bethann and don't blame you for having the blues about this. It's hard not to. But luckily there are new things on the horizon & I'm praying there's a tx for you soon soon soon.

congrats on being alcohol free for 5 yrs. That's terrific, and it must be nice to hear from your dtr that she's proud of you. : )

No need to apologize for sharing how you feel! This is a support group.
I have those times of feeling discouraged, too. I was unsuccessful in treatment and wonder if I'll ever be free of the virus.
Currently, I'm learning to live with it since there's nothing I can to do about it today. I don't seem to be any worse than I was when diagnosed 4 years ago (gr2 st3).
Lets keep our eyes open for possible treatments, and make the most of this unique day.

Beth, I am sorry that you are feeling down. I know that feeling all too well. You will find your silver lining and be back to normal in no time.

Also, congrats on 5 years of sobriety!! You should be proud of yourself.

I hear ya also relasped what are gonna do. I think the thought of having the bugs is what pisses me off. Don't feel any worse for wear. It's all good. I also quit drinking so I know that feeling hang in there girl. Peace

You have been through a very difficult time and all that I can say is that it sucks, and it is so unfair. When I hear about some of these trials; short durations, no side effects, I hope and pray for all those who, like you, deserve to be free of this awful virus. Please hang in there and try not to give up hope. xoxoxox

dear beth they have trials plus ..new orals..90% plus cure rate coming...if u don't get a trial.....i finished a trial abbott,,all oral.....i'm now svr after 2 failed interferon tx's....u never give up....NEVER.........IT'S U'RE TURN............................................

Reasearch is really booming for HCV now (as there is such a huge market) trust the greed of big pharma. soon there will be the ideal cure for you. I hate to sound crass but this situation is the great motivator. Rest do good things for yourself and wait.
