Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Last I heard he was given 2 weeks to live from some respiratory condition. He is n his 50s. He continued to experience extreme lethargy long after treatment. in the past several months was hospitalized with mysterious respiratory illness.
But lets be optimistic - there is hope for us & if we aren't svr yet, perhaps there is good reason & we will get a better, safer treatment.
