I've got some important questions to ask now that I read this paper because if the data is acknowledged with the Hep Dr.s @ UPMC, then I might just have to skip this upcoming study and wait for the 3rd wave of AVT's become available or, if I can get into a study whereby the use of non-interferon 3rd wave drugs are to be used...
The reason is if I were to take the triple tx, there may just be an increased risk of having to increase the amount of Prograf (tacrolimus) or even switch to cyclosporine and I'm not willing to take that risk since it may lead to an increased risk of organ rejection also... There's also the fact that protease inhibitors will not work as well as polymerase inhibitors when used as non-interferon therapy & without riba as well.
They do have some good news regarding decompensated cirrhotic patients who are pre-transplant towards the end of the article...
This probably means that both Marylyn and myself will have to wait until the polymerase inhibitors/non-interferon studies start up again for post transplant patients.
