Whoa Cat, you woke up during it? I'd be questioning qualifications of anesthesiologist on that one. Maybe took a little tad of it herself?

The pre-cleansing, emptying before the colonoscopy was quite the 'day at the beach' as I recall.

I've had three of them - this was the only time I woke up. I told them to not give me Demerol - I've had bad reactions to that stuff, like wild out of control agitation that I don't even remember but the nurses just LOVE to tell me about - like how I am the worst patient ever, etc. So they gave me Fentanyl - I wanted Propofol, having had that in Jan. in Vegas for an EGD and it was a super smooth ride. But NO, not here in Giant Ashtray Valley middle of nowheresville. And yes, SOMEONE messed up, but I know who it was because I heard the doc. tell the tech (ha, small surgery center, NO anesthesiologist or this would not have happened) right before the lights went out the first time "xxx whatevers of Fentanyl" - so she gave me what he told her to give me. NOT ENOUGH. Dang. It was a horrible experience - hell, I though maybe I had died, it was so weird - like I'm looking down over to the right at the doc on some short stool beside the gurney but I wasn't sure if anyone realized I was awake - which they weren't until I yelled. God - it creeps me out to think about it. :)

Clay, you do realize that 17K ft. equals over three miles don't you??? ( 5,280 ft. X 3 = 15,840 ft. - with 1,159 extra ft. beyond the 3 miles) So, how long will this take to complete... A week??? ;>)

My doctors gives me propofol when I have a colonoscopy or an endoscopy. That's the anesthesis that was given to Michael Jackson. I don't know jack from the time it's injected until I'm in recovery.
The length of the colon is 5 to 6 feet. It's the small intestine that's 25ft or so long. Ask for propofol. (Just tell them to be sure and wake you up!)

I am with Marilyn - propofol is a WONDERFUL drug - too bad Michael Jackson abused it - or paid people to help him abuse it. But it's a smooth ride. I had it for my EGD as well as for a tooth extraction. Great experience. However, not all clinics or docs are able to use it - they need special training or something.

The 'prep' is the worst part of this procedure I thought. My GI doctor cancelled my scheduled one months back right after my dx with HCV. Hummm, I need to remember to check with Gen Practitioner about this....I've also noticed that my dentist is not on my ass as much about my follow-up appts either. Just figured it was because of the HCV. Anyway good luck Clay - feel blessed.

This guy certainly loves to - let's just say that he's into profoundly embellishing a variety of measurements with some rather delirious amounts that are indeed profusely hysterical and they did induce a certain amount of laughter which is always welcome in my book Clay!
