So I went to see the hep dr. and it was the same old same old. I can't get on the trials he has due to the fact I am a non responder for one and the other cause of the cirroisis . Surprise surprise. I do have to have an ultra sound and a liver scan, which is better than a biopsy I guess. Anybody had a liver scan? Does it hurt? How long does it take? All I know is it is going to cost me $100. Dr said something should be out in a year or two. Back to the waiting game I guess. Hope everything holds out til then.

Same thing I hear. I try to shrug it off, no other choice. I keep calling the research centers & checking clinical trials.gov.
We're supposed to get some trials here this summer but I probably won't qualify. Not being negative, I was in a double blind study, that is a disqualifier.
I had a CTscan - triple phase with & w/o contrast. Nothing to it.

Yeah Debbie, despite all the promise of the newer drugs, it is still a waiting game for many who need it the most.

I had a fibroscan, it was painless. They are said to be quite accurate at the high end, i.e. with extensive liver damage. I hope that's not the case since mine was very high.

I've had the scan, a biopsy, a fibrosure and Apri tests (both blood tests) and they all showed different results.

Someone here (pugdaddy???) said the only accurate way to measure liver damage is an autopsy...

Shadow - Geno 2 and 3 new tx end of this year/early 2014. Geno 1's not until probably 2015 unless any of us wants to take Interferon. We need that third agent - Ledipasvir, Simeprivir, Dacatasvir.... and only Sofosbuvir will (hopefully) be approved by the end of this year/early 2014 - giving 2's and 3's Sofos+Riba for SOC. Geno 1's MAYBE can get that third agent off-label, as in, before it's FDA approved, but doubtful that any insurance will pay for it unless MAYBE the person's doctor can convince said insurer that it's medically essential to avoid liver failure/decompensation in the near future, i.e., cirrhosis perhaps. I doubt any of us can afford to pay the retail prices of these drugs. Geno 1's WILL have a "new" tx when Sofos is FDA approved - but it's going to be Sofos + Interferon + Riba until that third agent makes it through the FDA approval process. No thanks for me.

A lover scan to check for damage is a great concept Debbie (#5). Could save a lot of time up front when seeking a mate.
