I've worn very little make-up for over two years since I stopped working, but oh, yes, I used to glop (is that a word?) it on for years, esp. in the 80's - we really wore lots of make-up in that decade. These days I don't care what I look like - I only care what I feel like. I think hair dye would fall under this concept too. I used to dye my hair constantly. Now - haven't for a year or so - going gray, but I'm proud of those silver strands; I earned 'em.

This makes so much sense - just never thought about it - make-up is absorbed INTO our skin - and from there...........

Not just make up but soap, shampoo, laundry soap toothpaste...some very toxics unregulated ingredients. Cosmetics are regulated in the E.U. In this great country we let industry regulate itself.

My favorite site is ewg.org, there lists of fruits, vegetables, cosmetics, laundry detergents and on and on rated for their toxicity. WARNIG: it can drive your average obsessive neurotic absolutely crazy.

My pleasure...we all use soap, toothpaste, deodorant, some of us hair dye and make up. Might as get those that contain fewer or no carcinogens.

I find lots of "safe" products at Whole Foods. Hair color, shampoo, soap and toothpaste. A few dollars more but I believe it is worth it.

I stopped using hair dye...much to my surprise my hair is almost completely white now...only color left is at base of scalp. But not giving up the make-up. Great site, thanks Kat.

I rarely use deodorant anymore either. Going natural. It's a hit. Also, most have aluminum in them, which is absolutely unnecessary. I don't think we'd eat, drink or even breathe air if we knew all that we were getting.

I tell ya it's always something. I want to live in a bubble and be ejected into space. I want it to be a HUGE bubble though so I can take some friends, family and buddies along for the ride as well as start a community. Maybe terraform. Of course, then the cosmetics and food companies would follow us and resume poisoning us.

I remember a thread like this that Sandy had made...last year or so. That's when I found out that many household items were non liver friendly, like fabric softener that I use often! :( It's depressing when it comes to personal care items, such as cosmetics, deodorants, lotions....:((

What about Botox? Never done it. I always said I'd not do a procedure (thought surgery then) before 40. Well hell I'm 45, sky's the limit right? I have some forehead lines..one especially seasoned looking. I kind of like it but not really. I don't know that I want to start injecting botox yet but many do. Hell it is SoCal and you like Logan's Run, after 30....well... Actually 40s the new 30 right....so does that mean that 90 is the new 80?

speaking of str8 men, did you know that many Japanese businessmen wear make-up and have done so for years? I saw a story on it some years back. Some men wear it hear too and I think we'll see more. So this thread is unisexual.
