PHASE 3: Healing vs. Curing
We are all desperate for curing, but a physical cure may be years away. We need to shift to healing---a balance and wholeness of mind, body, and spirit.
As we become more aware of our emotional responses, we learn how healthy it is to lean into the grief process and accept it. We learn how to tap into resources that can help, such as dietary changes and relaxation techniques. The goal is to come out of each cycle at a higher level, to feel better about ourselves, and to see more flexibility in ourselves and others as we learn how to cope.
Grief can be the great healer. Grief is to the psyche and the spirit what the physical process is to the healing of a wound.
So, you say, "That sounds great. But how do I grieve?"
Talk about what's happening to you. Talk to a friend, a support group, a journal. Get on the Internet. Help yourself by re-evaluating your feelings each time you tell and retell your story. As you do this, you fit your new self into your old idea of yourself.
The Chinese symbol for crisis is both danger and opportunity. Chronic illness can give us the o[[ortunity to become deeper, beoader, more flexible, and to find meaning in our lives.

Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
