Hi everyone, I completed my 24 week Tx with Sovaldi and Olysio on July 4th. I took a blood viral load test a week later and it came back undetected. I have been undetected since week 4, and I hope I stay that way. I have been craving chocolate and candy and anything sweet like cake and so forth since I have been on Tx. This kinda worrys me because I read somewheres that the Hep C virus lives on sweets. I don't know if that's true, but it does worry me. I don't want this virus to come back. Has anyone been on Tx with these new drugs and got the virus back? Just wondering cause I'm still worried it will return. I have been virus free this whole time I have been on the medication but now I'm off of it. Anyone know if anyone has gotten the virus back after new Tx?
I gained a lot of weight on S&O - enormous appetite - battling to take it off. uphill battle.
sugar is addictive, i deal with it the way i have dealt all other additions - have NONE!! I CANNOT have juts one cookie or any sweet in moderation.
Viruses don't feed, they just hijack cells and replicate.

I just finished 12 weeks of S&O and am non detect and it's expected by the Dr.s I will stay that way too. It's a great combo!
Now all that sugary stuff can be harmful to other areas of our health ..so as with everything ..moderation!

You've been undetected for over 20 weeks! Great news. There is a recovery period after treatment. Perhaps the sweets craving, as you described having through out treatment, will subside. I have also found unusual cravings! I have never been a soda drinker. On treatment, (solv&riba), I started desiring ice cream to help sooth the uncomfortable GI symptoms. For the past couple of weeks (still on treatment) I've been craving Pepsi! I hope to hear from you again with the good news that your diet has returned to normal. Hope mine does, too!
