I noticed that this article says that for now, Sovaldi will have to be used with riba and interferon for geno 1's. But billyvaughn has the same doctors as I do, and he said he will be treated with Sovaldi and Riba. He also has geno 1. I was hoping I would find out on the 22nd that I can do the same thing. I won't take interferon.

Yes for now Marilyn but this article is talking about the one pill combo of Sovaldi and Ledipasvir which should be to market in just a few more months, possibly late Spring early Summer.

That will not include Interferon and probably no Riba either.

I know, but I just can't keep waiting. Was hoping I could go ahead and do Sovaldi/Riba. Like I said, that's what billy is going to do, and he has the same docs as me. He's supposed to start Sovaldi/Riba this month - geno 1 - post transplant.

That will be up to you and your Dr. A few months ago it was making hard decisions about to do or not to do interferon.
One thing I remain thankful for is still having decisions to make. Not everyone has that. I did ribavirin and I won't do it again . I'd rather take my chances . It's all too close.

Thanks Kramer. Six months ago when I had my last biopsy, I was at phase 2-3, so I don't know what I am now. BUT since I've had a transplant, it's all so much more aggressive. If I end up with Cirrhosis, assuming I haven't already, it would move faster, even if the Hep C gets cured. A lot of us are pushing the limits, aren't we?!

We sure are. My take on it is that at 60 I'm already on borrowed time. Not that I don't want to live longer. I do! After my devastating experience with SOC I really feel I do not want to do anymore damage to this old body of mine. I will wait a little longer.
We all have to make our own decisions. Some folks want every measure taken to prolong life. I do not. When my time comes it comes and I am ready for that.
I have every confidence that these drugs will be here in a few months, not years ..months. I will wait.

Like you, I won't keep taking every measure to prolong life either. I just turned 69. Quality is more important than quantity at this point.

You have a great Dr. Marilyn. I'm sure you will get some good counselling. The game is changing so fast even the medical experts are constantly changing tack
